The room was nice, but service was below expectations. The hotel is isolated, so it is very hard to get around without a car. Even getting a taxi was difficult. Most of the time, there was no bell captain at the desk, and even when I called ahead, I often had to wait up to 15 minutes for a taxi. Also, the health spa closed at 8:00 p.m., which makes no sense for a resort hotel and spa. I would not stay there again.

The Hilton San Diego Resort is totally overpriced. I stayed four nights - the pools was a mess and unusable for 3 of those nights. My key card had to be reset 3 times in four days, The front desk staff was arrogant and rude. The hotel was not near full - in fact where I parked my car there were only two other cars in the parking lot - but the Hilton still charged $* a day to park my car - ridiculous. I would never stay here again - and you shouldn't unless you enjoy being treated like badly and being overcharged.

  • Not what I expected for a Hilton

VERY DISAPPOINTING. THE HOTEL WAS VERY OUTDATED. THE SCREEN DOOR FELL OFF AS SOON AS WE TRIED TO SLIDE IT OPEN. THE TV DID NOT WORK AND WHEN I CALLED THEY TOLD ME TO SEE IF IT WAS PLUGGED IN, IT WAS. THE STAFF WERE RUDE. THE HOTEL WAS NOT ON THE BEACHFRONT AS ADVETISED.THE ONLY PLACE TO EAT CLOSE WAS THE HOTEL RESTAURANT. THIS WAS ADVERTISED AS A 4 STAR RESORT AND IT WAS CLOSER TO A 2 STAR. WE CHECKED OUT AND MOVED TO THE WESTIN @ GASLAMP QUARTERS. 100% NICER AND CLEANER

I tried to stay here for one night for an anniversary using points. However, i was given a room in the corner less then what was offered when i made the reservation. It was "offered" with the caveat that the hotel wouldn't book up overnight, and clearly it had not. However I still wasn't given the room 2 doors down. When i called the front desk to see if a change was possible, i was told I should be happy with what i was given, since my upgrade was simply a courtesy. I tried to let it go, but within the hour i had to call maintenance because the internet (no wireless) was not working. Then i looked around, and there wasn't even a refrigerator in the room in this "villa" in front of the water! We checked out in less than an hour.

This was our second visit to the Hilton San Diego resort, this time for a full week in mid-November. The setting is beautiful, and the property is situated perfectly for those visiting anywhere in the greater San Diego area. While the outside of our building was a bit motel-like, inside, the room was clean and surprisingly large, with a full wall of windows (and sliding glass door) leading out onto a "lanai." (More like a simple balcony, actually.) Our only quibbles: Our second-floor room could only be reach by outside stairs, not by elevator. For those with heavy suitcases, this is an annoyance. And, two, be prepared for very spotty service in the Acqua restaurant. We ate almost every breakfast there (and one lunch) and, except for one day, had waits of 10-15 minutes merely to place an order (regardless of how busy the restuarant actually was). Getting the check can take another 15-20 minutes. We ended up scheduling an hour for breakfast. In addition to the wait, though, we ordered the same thing most mornings...and our plates were prepared differently most days; there seems to be no standards for which size glasses to use, or for what items typically accompany a given entree. This wasn't necessarily bad. But it did demonstrate a lack of consistency that I found curious. We are Hilton fans. And I don't believe we'd think twice about staying at this property again; its location and amenities are perfect for us (and it's always nice to go back to a known entity). We were literally seconds away from I-5, minutes from Old Town and Sea World, and a very easy drive to the airport, Seaport Village, Fashion Valley Mall, etc.
