I liked the setting and the breakfast was great. The other meals were overpriced, I thought. The spa was not included. There was an extra charge for wifi in the room. The room was very convenient to the convention center, just across and down the driveway. There was a great trail around the pond in front of the grounds for jogging or walking. Overall, it was a good value with the breakfast and I would have liked it more if it were not for the nocturnal football playing in the room above me.

I wasn't wowed....of course we were visiting in November so we didn't get to visit the pool area much. It was just decent all around but for the money and the reputation I expected a little more. I especially resented that parking is extra...really...with all that room it's not as if the spaces are premium...and with the location you are more likely to have a car to get there (or go anywhere around-it'a bit off the path) so it's as if they are just tacking on more fees with nothing added...

Thankfully my boyfriend and I only stayed here two nights otherwise we would have probably gone stir crazy. First off, we did not rent a car nor would we have ever wanted to considering the outrageous $25/night parking fee! However, if you want to go to any restaurants/shops other than what is at the resort, expect to be taking a cab becuase you're pretty far from all the action. We were able to walk to SeaWorld which was about a good 2 mile walk, but any restaurants/bars are on the other side of the freeway making it too far to walk to get across. The resort is right on a boardwalk which is nice if you're looking to take a stroll along the beach. Expect to pay a lot for food and not much of a choice when it comes to dinner. Our first night there we ate at Acqua (we didn't have a choice, it was the only place open) and our meal was okay but very expensive when all I really wanted was a sandwich which is something they do not offer. Had I known, I would have called and ordered pizza or something that would deliver. We decided not to eat there any more and just ate while at SeaWorld majority of the next day. Pretty disappointed and almost felt jailed with that place being our only option for dinner with such a limited menu. The resort grounds were very nice, our room was also nice and what I liked was we had a little patio area to sit at. The patio was a pretty filthy though so we didn't even sit out on the chaise. We went to the adult hot tub area since that was closest to our hotel and it's pretty awkward if there's another couple in there, the hot tub is pretty small. The main pool area was completely occupied all night long up until it closed. We wanted to lounge by the firepit but that wasn't working and actually, I didn't see one single working firepit which was pretty disappointing because it was a little chilly at night. With it being such a big resort, getting any sort of maintenance or room service was incredibly slow and frustrating. Overall, while the price may be appealing when looking against other San Diego hotels, this one gets you for all the extras. They know that if you're not paying the $25/day to park, you're going to spend that avoided fee in the restaurant on some dish you've never heard of. I'd say if you're considering this hotel, keep searching. We won't be back.

This hotel needs to be completely redone. Rooms are strange: my supposed water view room had a wall that blocked any view and made it seem like we were underground. No casual restaurant, no room service.
