Most people probably know that the Fairmont is a beautiful, luxurious hotel. I totally agree. I expected good service, but was amazed at the friendliness of the staff. There was a mixup on the arrival date for my reservation, that was mostly my fault. Nevertheless, the front desk staff came to the rescue even at the late hour of my arrival. They were fantastic, and I will definitely stay there again!

This hotel throws you back in time, to the lavish days of San Francisco. The location is excellent, close to China Town, Union Square, North Beach. Within walking distance are many excellent restaurants. We went to bar at the Tonga room, worth a visit. The rooms were clean, and the bathroom had beautiful marble in it. If your planning to do a lot of walking it is in one of the highest points in the city and it's uphill! We walked a lot, so if that's your plan, be prepared for the hills.

Been to San Francisco many times and love the history of the city. This was our first time staying at the Fairmont. The room has been remodeled and we stayed on the 19th floor and it overlooked the entire city from the Golden Gate bridge to Coit Tower - an absolutely incredible view! Take time to walk around the lobby and hallways - they are filled with history! Ask the concierges for restaurant suggestions, we used their suggestions a few times and were happy with their choices.

a great historic hotel ...but upon arrival and checked in i asked for a later checkout of about an hour as we were there to run the Nike marathon and was told that that was not possible as to overbooking...upon obtaining our key and reminding them that i had already reserved an extra rollaway bed we proceeded to the room..the rollaway was brought up and placed in the room..it was a little tight but still comfy....15 min later the deskclerk knocked and i was told there was a mistake and i would have to change rooms....we packed up and moved ..but the new room was even smaller ..very cramped..not a room that a rollaway should have been put in......due to the lack of consideration from the staff about my concerns and the musical rooms i dont know if i woud stay again....but the Tonga Room rocked....
