I booked this hotel thinking I was getting a nice and quaint experience. Although the location is great, the rest of the hotel is not. First, we were given a room that was already occupied. Then we were dispatched to the 7th floor, into a handicap access room, where the rails were coming undone from the walls. The shower water was going from cool to hot and back. The reception on the television was poor. The only nice thing I can say about the hotel was that the staff was really kind. Overall though, I will not stay in this hotel again.

Nice hotel, but it was undergoing renovations while we visited. Elevators were not always working and notices not always posted letting guest know what to do. Best loacation in town. Staff was wonderful! Continental breakfast was very nice and dining room service personnel were the best!

We took a spur of the moment trip to Savannah for Memorial Day weekend. After driving around the city and deciding to stay the night, this was the first hotel we called. They said they had 4 stars and a room available. We expected any hotels service to be top notch during this peak travel time. You certainly couldn't beat the location of this hotel! It was right in between City Market and River Street. We parked our car in the garage and walked everywhere during our stay. The staff was down right nasty and unprofessional. There was ONE working elevator for all of the rooms, which housekeeping used as well. From the ground floor a housekeeper and I got on the elevator together, and she took me (as well as her laundry) down to the basement before sending me off to my floor. I thought sending me up to my room before her trip to the basement would have been more polite! The staff was lounging around outside of the hotel, eating their potato chips and hanging out at their cars, in the park, etc. Our room had a dirty toilet and when we asked a housekeeper to clean it up for us, she walked in, sprayed it down, and walked right back out without wiping it down or saying a word. It seemed our sentiments were shared with many other guests who were given dirty rooms, room keys that did not work, malfunctioning luggage carts (staff do not offer to help with luggage), and frustration with the SINGLE operating elevator. The hallways were cluttered with housekeeping's towel bins and cleaning carts, no matter the time of day. The breakfast room was packed at 8am and the food was marginal. FAR FROM 4 STARS!

My wife and I have been staying at this location for almost 30 years. We miss a year ever now and then, but you could say we're a regular annual customer. I'm not sure we'll be returning next year. The location is perfect! The price is O.K. On our arrival ,in a downpour, the parking garage was full, with a large number of cars from local and surrounding counties. I assumed they were probably employees. There was no check in parking. The elevators didn't work, and my wife has problems with her knees. Luggage up only 2 flights.....thank goodness we weren't on the 6th floor. The ice machine on our floor didn't work. The room was very clean, and the free breakfast was very good. My credit card was charged after we left eventhough I paid through Travel online.

Our problems were as follows: Check in - 15 minutes late and amidst a mob scene created by a large tour group whose check in was also delayed. Room - many problems here: a) HVAC unit was terribly noisy and probably on the way to malfunctioning. b) Room was tiny and had a popcorn ceiling which was less than eight feet high. c) Closet door was the cheapest possible and was unusable because it was permanently derailed. d) Television had interference on almost every station which made viewing almost impossible. e) Shower head was the worst I have ever seen anywhere. f) Noise level was often increased by our room being positioned directly next to the elevators. Yes, the hotel location and dedicated parking were excellent.
