Over-all a nice hotel. Two blocks away from the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. Parking is not easy. Staff was very nice and helpful. About the biggest issue we had was the street noise at night. It is Waikiki and a busy town at all hours, so there will be some noise. But I feel it is worth it, if you upgrade your room and get on a higher level room. We began on the East side 6th floor. Across from us was the parking garage. Had a hydraulic lift going all hours. While not real loud, it was noisy. Also there were garbage bins at street level. Homeless searching and clinking glass throughout the night and the 6am garbage pickup made it tough to sleep. Front desk indicated that the North side had the Disco that went till 3am. Upgraded and got a room on the 14th floor. Worth it. You could not hear much street noise up there.

The were several huge issues with the Wave during my trip. First of all my room looked nothing like the photos. Although the color scheme was the same, the room was very worn/tired and did not look as new or as crisp as the photos. Although it was probably renovated in the last 5+ years, none of the fixtures in the bathroom were replaced and I think the furniture and vanity was only painted not replaced. The bathroom had mold in the tub and on the sink and the ceiling leaked which was fixed by hotel staff when we complained. The second issue was with the noise. The hotel is next to the International Market Place which noise from the bars are expected. We had a room on the 9th floor. The first few nights were very loud since it was a weekend. Every morning around 6:30 AM the trash truck comes to do a pick up at the Marketplace. It takes about 30 minutes and all you hear is the beeping from the truck repeatedly backing up and the banging from the dumpsters being emptied. The hotel must recognize the noise issue because the room came with a complimentary set of ear plugs. The last issue is the prostitution problem that is on Kuhio Ave. There is a large amount of ladies that walk Kuhio starting at sunset and hang out directly in front of the hotel. After talking to the the manager today, the hotel is powerless to control the sidewalk outside of the hotel. All they can do it control the lobby and rooms. There is only one entrance to the hotel so you must walk through all of them every night. This was not something that I wanted to subject my children to. When I complained the staff was non responsive, shrugged their shoulders and pretty much said it is what it is. Due to all of these reasons I would never stay at the Wave or an Aqua property again.
