The River Park Hotel is good value for the money, at its very convenient central location: the Knight station on the Metromover loop is directly across the street, thereâs a taxi stand 100 yards to the east, a variety of eating places are a couple of blocks north and for upscale dining the Hyatt Regencyâs restaurant is almost next door via a pleasant riverside walkway. River Park rates are reasonable for this costly area, e.g. the Hyatt is nearly twice the price. River Parkâs downside is its skimping on service: the cafeteria ends its cereal/toast/coffee breakfast at 9 am, the swimming pool was closed two of our three days, the Fitness Center was âOut of Orderâ and the desk staff often consisted of just one person, whose native language was not English. Our room lacked some standard conveniences: the bathtub needed a plug and its drain needed unclogging; we couldnât get the hair dryer to work; we couldnât find a âPlease do not disturbâ sign to permit late sleeping, nor the usual list of local information such as TV channels. On the other hand the staff, when available, were courteous and did their best to help.

I booked this hotel online and when we arrived I was glad to only be staying one night. The sidewalks and parking available are laughable so walking in with suitcases and then getting a taxi was not simple. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was very large for the average hotel room with a king bed. The lock on the bathroom door was jammed so it would not latch closed or lock, there were many small holes in the curtains and the bed and pillows were not comfortable. The hotel appeared to be have very little to work with, street location included, in its attempt to create a luxury hotel feeling. Would not recommend.

This inexpensive hotel delivers what you pay for, do yourself a favor pay a little more somewhere else . Customer service was poor, we were treated rudely and staff seemed too rushed to be bothered with checking us in or answering questions about the area. The area has some good eating/shopping within walkin distance. Room smelled musty, bed was small and wall had massive peeling paint. Would be okay to stay a night if you were only in Miami to party but then again, it didn't seem kind of out of the way.
For the price - its unbeatable!09/06/2012

This hotel's staff was really laid back and friendly. They recommended good clubs downtown and knew how much the cab would be, they took great care of my brother's truck (we paid the overnight valet). The location is great! In between Bay side and Brickell and a few minutes from South Beach - I would definitely stay here again! The room was SOOO much bigger than we had anticipated and although the quality of the room itself was sub par - the whole experience was great! You're not in Miami to stay in the hotel - so why pay more than you have to??
