Hotel seemed old and a little small for the room size, but was a good value for the money. It was close to all the activity so we could walk to everything. I would recommend, just don't expect a 5 star hotel. The complimentary wine/cocktail hour was nice.

I went in late April when it's "off season" and the weather was beautiful. That translated to lower prices, shorter lines, less stress, and vendors very eager to please. The hotel is situated close to Fisherman's Wharf which is an attraction all its own, but is also the gateway to a number of other attractions such as Alcatraz Island and ferries leading to surrounding areas. San Francisco grew up from a small port and military installation in the 1800's. That, unfortunately, translates into minimal parking facilities. The hotel has valet parking only because of the tight quarters they have available to park your car. If you're on a budget, I'd suggest asking the hotel what they're going rate is. It is a daily rate that isn't cheap, but is about average for hotel parking in much of the city. If you leave something in your car, they don't want you going to where the car is parked to retrieve it for liability concerns. So, if you utilize their parking, be sure to get everything out that you might need before they drive away with it. The hotel room I stayed in was clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and the room had the usual amenities. Each room has a small safe about the size of a microwave with an electronic combination you set each time you lock it. It was nice to know that I could leave my laptop in a secure location without having to drop it off at the desk. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A staff member was assigned to assist in routing you to your destination by providing maps and directions to anywhere you want to go. No free breakfast, but there's a restaurant on the first floor with good food, not to mention that the city is awash with excellent eateries. It was nice to have grocery and drug stores within a block for all the little things that you may want during your stay. The room is stocked with bottled water and snacks, but you pay dearly for the convenience of not walking that block or two to the store. The free wine tasting in the lobby was a very nice touch and made me feel at home...a rare feeling when you stay at a hotel. I stayed for three days, but I would have stayed there longer if I could. I would definitely stay there again next time I visit.

I really liked this hotel. Myself, my teenage son and my 80 something mother stayed there and it was everything we needed! Of course there was the refridgerator in the room where we were able to keep breakfast and lunch items, but there was the lobby with the beautiful hearth and plenty of seating around it and near it. My mother would sit down there and read her book while the maid cleaned the room. This made it easier on mother since she is not able to sight-see. I loved the 'hosted'wine tasting they had every nite. Every one we encountered was very friendly, helpful, and appreciated our being there.

We have stayed at this hotel three times and think it's great. The rooms are cozy and welcoming. We love the restaurant on the bottom floor because the food is always wonderful. The staff is very accomodating, and it is centrally located to both Fisherman's Wharf and modes of transportation to get around the whole city. It is our mainstay when we travel there and we would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at Fisherman's Wharf.
