Hadn't been to San Francisco in several years, wanted somewhere close to Fisherman's Wharf.  Not overly pricey, very friendly, helpful staff.  Nice feeling of luxury.  Parking was expensive, but that's the same at all places we looked at in the area.

This hotel was very nice and the staff was great.  The concierge helped us with a great dinner suggestion and made reservations for us.  The only thing that kept this from a 5 for me was the carpet looks like it is due for a refresh.  It was not bad, but definitely worn and a little dirty looking.

  • Good location, comfortable bed

Just got back from a five night stay at the Tuscal Inn.  The room was very clean and the bed was one of the best I've slept on in a hotel recently. The location was great, close walking distance to tour bus pick-up locations, the historic cable car Powell-Mason line, Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiridelli, which is just shopping.  Also convenient to Trader Joes, a Walgreens and a McDonalds and In and Out Burger.  Hollywood Cafe is just down the street, where the breakfasts are great.  The concierge was great at recommending restaurants and giving directions.  The only con I could see was that the walls seemed to be pretty thin - sometimes I could hear the tv next door at night, but that was easily fixed by putting in my earplugs.  Also, be prepared to pay a lot for parking, but that's pretty standard in any big city - $50/day for our SUV. We took the car on a couple of out of town day trips and a day of just driving around the city ourselves, but you could easily take public transportation to the main sights, just be prepared to walk up and down some pretty steep hills.

Hotel was extremely clean. Staff were all friendly and helpful.  Parking was consistent with other close by garages (45 for valet). Only downside to parking is you can only park until 3pm on checkout day so if you plan on being in the city for the day, you'll be paying 2 parking fees. Very close to all shopping and attractions. Overall a great hotel, had a great weekend!
