great location
11/24/2012Everything was great i just didn't like the shower. hot water was not readily available, showerhead could not be adjusted, and pressure wasn't great.

We found this hotel to be a excellent place from which to explore San Diego. It is on Shelter Island ,quiet and has an outstanding staff.All attractions were within easy driving distance. The hotel is home to a large yacht marina and the harbor and fishing dock were right out our door.Staff very responsive to our questions.Hidden bet very much in the middle of the metro area .

The location was outstanding with a marina on one side, the bay on the other. Driving to all tourist activity sites very easy. Next door is the Humphrey's Concert on the Bay venue---walk to a concert outside! The restaurant has excellent scallops and the chocolate cake is to die for! The staff is very helpful and thoughtful, and the room was exceptionally clean and nice. I would stay here every time I go to San Diego!

Stayed at this hotel from 8/17-8/22/12 and would not recommend it. First of all, Shelter Island is beautiful, just don't stay at the Best Western. Hotel is noisy, bed very uncomfortable and makes weird sounds. On two occasions, we went back to our room and found the electricity was out after coming home from the beach full of sand and wanting to shower. Went to the front desk and they acted very nonchalant about it. The facility electrician was sent out and couldn't fix the problem. A few hours later a professional electrician was called in and finally fixed the power. The next day the same thing happened. The hotel did not offer to compensate us for our inconvenience or offer another room. The A/C and ceiling fan work on a timer. The fan goes off automatically while you're sleeping so you can wake up in the middle of the night sweating. We asked to have it fixed and it was not done. We tried to do laundry and the clothes came out with rust stains on them. Weak wi-fi signals and you get a 15 minute window to use the hotel computer and printer and then it kicks you off. If you want to stay on Shelter Island, try Humphrey's, not Best Western.
