We could not open our window for "fresh" air because the smoke from their fire would fill our room. This expained why the hallways had a terrible gagging smell of smoke and perfume. We had a terrible night sleeping. Felt we should warn anyone who does not like sleeping in smoke.

While there are cheaper places to stay in Port Angeles, there are not really any nicer. This hotel had an excellent in-house restrauant and very nice clean rooms. The staff was very helpful and provided maps and directions to other local places to eat as their restrauant was only open for breakfast, which was qute good.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The hotel was very well maintained and is nicely decorated. The lobby is large and comfortable. Our only complaint was that the man at the front desk was a little rude when we checked in. When we booked the room, it offered a discount for AAA or AARP. We are members of AAA so we applied the discount. However, in the hotels records it was recorded as AARP. Instead of saying, "It looks like there was a mistake in your room price" and then asking us what discount we applied for, the man said something like, "You two are clearly not AARP" and made us feel like he thought we had lied when booking the room in order to get a discount we didn't deserve.

My favorite part of this hotel is the huge fireplace in the lobby. My friends and I sat on the comfy couch in front of it and played cards and Yahtzee. We also enjoyed our coffee there in the morning. It was quite cozy. The hotel staff was very friendly and had lots of suggestions for dining choices. There's not really anything to walk to but it was just a few minutes down the main drag before arriving in the middle of downtown. Great views of the snow covered Olympic Mountains from the lobby as well as our room. My husband, 2 friends, and I stayed here for the weekend while doing the Passport Wine Tour. Will definitely stay here again!
