    This was a very nice, remodeled old hotel in a great location. The rooms are a bit on the small side but comfortable. The "best kept secret" is to the left out the front door, on the corner. Don't remember the name, but it is a great place for breakfast. Ate there Saturday and Sunday-full breakfast (including coffee) for under $*. The boat trip on the Chicago was well worth thre $* ticket. Very informative and interesting. Great architecture to view. Also don't miss the Field Museum. Check out the times for the Highlights Tour. It is free with admission and well worth the time (90 minutes). Saw and learned more than we could have in a whole day. Definately on my list for my next trip to Chicago. Ask at the desk about Sany's comedy club. We did and got free tickets.

    Offering one of the lowest rates downtown I expected something to be wrong but that was not the case. I thought the room might be tiny (like the Waldorf) but my King room was spacious, comfortable and had all the amenities. Bed and pillows were comfy, large flat screen TV, modern bathroom. 'net access costs you $*/day which is kind of chicken sh*t but no biggy. Jazz in the lounge Wed and Sat nights, great morning coffee in the lobby. The staff was a little stuffy but the bellmen and chambermaids were friendly and helpful. The location is a slam dunk, located in the heart of the Magnificent Mile and convenient to the other downtown hot spots and attractions. There's a Walgreen's drug store a block away. Didn't have the chance or need to look their fitness/business facilities. I would absolutely recommend the Allerton and will visit again if business or pleasure takes me to the Windy City.

    The Allerton is in a great location on the Mag Mile. You're close to everything! I spent 3 nights at the Allerton and had a conference on various floors within the hotel. All in all I enjoyed the hotel. It's a typical boutique hotel that you find in cities. The elevators are about the smallest I've ever seen in an american hotel. Fortunately, there are several, but I did have to wait during peak times. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very, very small. I realize that Chicago is a big city and hotel rooms are smaller in general, but I upgraded to the standard sized room and it was surprisingly tiny. I couldn't imagine what the petite classic room was like. The room was nicely decorated, clean and cozy. Fortunately, I was traveling by myself. My advice is to think European style room.

    I loved my stay at the Allerton and would definitely stay there again. The location was extremely convenient to activities and public transportation and I foud the hotel itself to be very chic, comparatively affordable and with a very friendly and courteous staff.
