The Allerton Hotel has been remodeled fairly recently. The only downside is that the room was small and there is no bathtub, just a shower. On the upside, the place is very clean, service very good. It looked like we were the most casual couple staying there, we just slept there and did our thing in Chicago. Location was GREAT, right on the Magnificent Mile, and cheapest rates on the Mile. If I had been there for longer, I also would have used the exercise room. It was very well equipped and the machines looked like new. Will stay there again some day.

The hotel is in a great location near shopping and dining. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The entrance is on a one way side street to Michigan Avenue so you may need to go around the block. It is just north of the Apple and Nike stores and across the street from Zara so those are good reference points.

I spent 2 nights at the Allerton while attending a conference at a different location. Overall, a good hotel and a good deal when booked as a package with a flight and a car rental. Pluses include great location (right on a Miracle Mile-Michigan Avenue, downtown Chicago), clean rooms and a good room service. Hotel bar is a must on Wednesday and Saturday, when they have a live performance by a very good singer-great fun! Minuses include a long wait for a car, using the hotel valet service (which comes at a whopping $* dollars a day) and slightly dated room. No bath robe or slippers! The food in the hotel restaurant was so-so (however, no shortage of great restaurants within a short walking distance).
