The hotel was very modern, yet you still had that old Chicago architectural feel. We had no knowledge of this hotel prior to booking so it was a very pleasant surprise. Although a bit small, the rooms were crisp & clean (sounds silly but that's the only way I can describe it!); the bed was wonderful; & the location was right in the middle of everything. The lobby bar was trendy but comfortable. Staff was not overly friendly, but no complaints. We did not dine at the hotel so no feedback to give there. The room had a pretty cool view of the buildings surrounding it but you couldn't see all that far. I would recommend this hotel but might not stay again simply b/c there's so many others to check in the city.

Overall the hotel was perfect for my wife and I. It was right off Michigan Ave. and it saved us quite a bit of money compared to the other hotels in the area. The room was pretty small but we weren't in it much so tha didn't bother us. The hotel staff was ver helpful in helping us find good and unique spots to eat dinner. I would recommend finding a cheaper place to park, because like I said, it was literally just off Michigan Ave so getting to the hotel with all the one way streets was difficult and parking cost too much for how far away the lot they kept our car in was which I guess is somewhat expected, being in downtown Chicago. Plus free internet in the lobby.

This hotel was in a wonderful place, right on the Magnificent Mile. I was excited to stay at this hotel but was slightly let down. It was very clean and the service was nice but the room was soooo small and the hotel didn't feel like it had much to offer. My fiancee and I are in our early twenties so maybe it just wasn't the right hotel for us. I wouldn't stay here again, though for an older couple with a little more money this may be the place for you.

  • The upgrade that they gave us actually made it unsuitable to our family

While the hotel is very well presented and in a fantastic location it did not meet our needs. On arrival we had been told that we were upgraded to a suite. This was fine, we had two children with us and this sounded better than the two queen beds we had booked. Entering the room there was only one bed, the second being a fold out bed. We made numerous requests for this bed to be made up before putting the children in our bed. Once the foldout bed was made we were not able to move in the room as it covered the entire floor space available. I would have in this instance prefer the room that I had booked rather than the "upgrade". I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a great childfree hotel in Chicago.

The Allerton served our purposes more than adequately for a long weekend in Chicago. Although the room was small, it was clean and comfortable and offered a wonderful view of Michigan Ave. The staff was friendly and accommodating. In particular, the concierge was most helpful steering us toward small restaurants off the beaten path. This hotel is well situated near all sorts of shopping and amenities, as well as the means to get there by public transportation or on foot. We will stay there again.
