While staff is extremely friendly, the hotel had a gloom and out-of-the-way quality to it that lacked spirit and personality. My room was small and dark, with a spider web along one leg of the desk. There were no perks or extras (pool, bar, spa, or even free internet), only a coffee area, with limited snacks, in a standing-room-only, congested section near the elevators.

The location was ideal for our family trip. Close to tons of stores, places to eat and tons of things to see. Staff were very helpful during our stay. Parking was hard to find on the first day, but after walking around, we were able to locate a closer parking lot.

We planned a "Girls Outing" and had an outstanding visit to Chicago and our stay at the Allerton was very nice. Since there were 4 of us, we did upgrade on our room in order to gain a bit more space. The location of the Allerton was perfect, as we could walk to all the various sights, restaurants, shopping, etc. The conceirge was especially helpful with where to go, what to do, and gave great directions. The staff was also very helpful with getting us taxi's and our van back to the airport. Would definitely stay there again.

I stayed at the Allerton with my two teenage children. We had come to the city for a couple of days to take in the holiday decorations in the downtown area. The location was so covenient and just around the corner from the Mile saved us a bunch. The staff was friendly and so accomodating at helping us find specific desired destinations. As the hotel is an old structure beautifully refurbished, the rooms are sufficient but not spacious. However, our room was very clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I would certainly stay at the Allerton again.
