I don't know what I was expecting, but the hotel is situated overlooking Old Town San Diego. It was clean and a place to lay my head. There on business. What I really liked was the location. It made me break out of the mold and try something new. My family and I love to eat at **** ** ****, pretty much the only place we have ever been to eat in Old Town. Well, we discovered another part of Old Town and other resturaunts. I recommend staying here. I know I will be back and I only live 45 miles away, an easy drive home, But a whole lot funner to stay and play.

My recent stay at the Hacienda Hotel in Old Town was a quite lovely experience. In short, the room was very clean, the bed was super comfy, and the grounds are gorgeous. Just two short blocks away shops, museums abound! If you are not sure which way to head, just follow the smells of cinnamon, churros and freshly made tortillas being sold in one of the many open air restaurants. The cons: Shower/Tub could use some updating. If there are folks out in the common areas of the hotel, if can be a little noisy. BONUS: The offer a FREE shuttle to & from the Airport! Bottom line: I would definitely stay here again and the price is very reasonable!

My car was broken into in their parking garage. They charge $12/day for parking plus a $7/day "resort fee" and then provide no security except for a couple of cameras nobody watches. My car was broken into and all they would do is say it was an "isolated incident" and then tell me that their signs absolve them of all responsibility. In searching the web, I found this is a very common occurrence there. I wish I had done my homework before staying. My room had cracks around the doors so big that the wind whistled through all night. The carpet was dirty. Bathroom tiles were broken and cracked. The restaurant is a real joke. Nobody goes there and for good reason. It's awful. I'd rather stand in line at a good restaurant out on the street. The free breakfast is worth about what it costs. The tile they have everywhere make every wheeled back thunder along as they are pulled, so you don't need an alarm clock in the boring.

I picked this hotel while planning a short vacation with my 10-year old son because of its charm and convenience to Old Towne shops and restaurants. The grounds were amazing, the room was beautiful and clean, and the views from our corner location were amazing. We were able to watch the SeaWorld fireworks from a distance in this room. The staff were friendly and accomodating and we walked everywhere! We will definately return to this hotel - no question!
