Recently stayed for 5 nights, 4 days. Pro: beautiful grounds, closer to the city (with non-resort dining options and shops), can use the facilities at both resorts on lanai, extremely luxurious, feeling of being in a private residence, quiet, fewer children compared to the beach front resort. Con: the Dining Room. The upscale restaurant at the Lodge. Poor quality, overly salty, flavor lacked depth. Pricy. Extremely disappointed. Not up to par with food at the Lanai City Grill. Good ingredients, but poorly prepared. We ate at 6 different establishments on the island during our visit, this was the worst meal. In fact, one of the worst meals I've had in years. Comparing to Manele Bay resort: better for adults, more of an old money feel, has more character. Manele is geared more for children, family, and feels like a typical beach resort one can find in Caribbean.

We visited in off-season, very quiet and peaceful. Lodge is a short shuttle trip to town, and a much longer trip to the sister hotel on the beach. No need for a car here. Rented a jeep for a day to see trails on the north side of the island. Golf course is manicured and looks like a post card.

I live on Oahu and was a bit skeptical about vacationing in Lanai because I am a bit of a city boy. But my vacation at The Lodge at Koele was absolutely amazing!!! It was like being in another part of the country, with it's breathtaking views, hometown charm and beautiful pine trees. I almost felt like I was back home in Michigan. And the staff and ammenities at The Lodge were spectacular. From dining in the elgant dining room to playing croquet in the afternoon, it was a wonderful experience and not one I will soon forget. I would recommed this to tourists and locals alike:)

If you are looking to truly get away from it all, then the Lodge at Koele is a perfect choice. You have full access to both the Lodge and nearby Resort; the service is exceptional, the food is excellent; and your every need is taken care of. A perfect holiday! The town is tiny but it offers some additional restaurant choices. I would suggest a 2-4 night stay.

Be ready for "Island Time". The residents of Lana'i are friendly and helpful. Remeber to pack some cool weather clothing. The evenings can be chilly at 1800 feet. Pack Smores supplies and sit by a fire under a blanket & look at the stars. :) The piano player in the Lodge during the evening, Kimo Garner, is fabulous! Even if you stay at the sister resort at Manele Bay, go to the Lodge for an evening when Kimo is playing. The food is expensive but good. One caution, don't order the Nachos... the cheese is nasty, powdery non-cheese. The shuttle to the beach is convenient & you rarely have to wait long to get from one resort to the other. Rent a Jeep for a day & go to the Garden of the Gods. It is beautiful! Caution, if you don't enjoy 4x4 activity you won't want to go all the way to the beach below the Garden. It is not an easy trek but it is beautiful and very remote (no services and very few people). Diving is wonderful. During our stay the whales were singing in the distance & the dolphins playing nearby. The clarity was 75-100 feet & the varieties of fish abundant, even during beach dives in front of the Manele Bay Resort. The boat dives were great too!
