I still enjoyed my stay here. The room was large. It was clean. However the walls seemed to be relatively thin. I was able to hear occupants in other rooms next to mine. I also heard people above me.

Our flight was delayed and by the time we checked in there were no non-smoking rooms available (even though we had booked one) We were told that the following day they would move us, which they did. Stayed in the Carson Tower which is a little aged and basic rooms. But were clean with large plasma TVs, so overall good value. If you use coffeee maker in room take your own individual serve cups (the small plastic one serving variety) as they supply you with 4 individual servings but charge you $10 as soon as you open the packet! We stayed at the back of the hotel which was very quiet. The pool was soooo busy and not very large. Sun beds get taken early, but the pool doesn't open for swimming until 10am. If you have kids, rather than spending all your time on the strip or at Fremont street try a few natural options. We drove to Charleston Mountain about 30 minutes from our hotel, had dinner at the one and only lodge at the top of the mountain (great food and views) in 72 degree weather (the strip was 113 degrees at the same time of day!) Also Red Rock Canyon about 20 minutes from the strip is sensational, we went at 6pm and watched the sunset over the mountains. The West rim of the Grand Canyon took us 2.5 hours from Vegas and was a great trip.

  • Great location, love Fremont Street

Room was clean. We were too tired from the days activities to notice any noise. Staff in all areas of the complex were helpful. It was only a bus ride to the Strip which was always crowded. In general it seemed easier to find your way around than some of the newer larger hotels in the area.

  • Sorry, I won't be back!

We stayed at the Golden Nugget the same weekend of the Electric Daisy Carnival and it was chaos! An exit door from the pool was blocked because of a shuttle bus line, the "guards" at the pool doors were drill sergeants and the lack of clothing of the Carnival attendees was alarming. All of the Carnival stuff made the hotel less family friendly and it was mobbed with carnival goers. The staff poolside and restaurant servers were stoic, not a smile or a kind word. We felt like we were in their way or something. The buffet is worth mentioning, the food was great and the servers were friendly. I was very pleased with the comfort of the bed and the room itself was very nice. I was surprised there were 2 full beds in the room, not 2 queens. The other misnomer is Freemont Street. It is not family friendly because of Vegas super-hype of topless girls and the volume of homeless people roaming Freemont Street. One homeless guy was screaming at NOBODY and wasn't escorted away from the area. He wandered down Freemont Street screaming and mad. The trash, bottles and junk laying around the streets, turned us off. We won't return to the Golden Nugget or Freemont Street. There were no incentives (internet service, a free drink, shuttle to the airport) to help smooth over some of the annoyances.
