We traveled from South Carolina for my wife's birthday on 4 Sep. I wanted it to be a special day for her so I booked a New Rush Tower upscale room for two days. Booked months in advance, with confirmation. Guess What? When we got there, no room in the New Towers were available, so they stuck us in a "very dark and dirty room" in the Old Section of the Golden Tower. I was very disappointed but my wife didn't want me to make a sceen on her birthday.

I was surprised on the large size of the room, and it's cleanliness. The view was not much, but in the end it really didn't matter as I would spend too much time inside the room. It's a large hotel, and the walk to my room was lenthy, but I'm able, and thus welcome the exercise. Over all I was also impressed with the conglamorate of other hotels nearby that share what is called the "Freemont Experience" wich is a light show and great sound! It's all good!

Everything you read from all of the other reviews, about the pool is true. How do I know, I found out the hard way. After traveling or spending the day at the casino's, I like to relax a little in the hot tub. Not at the Golden Nugget. The hot tub and swimming pool, are both to small too accomadate the size of this hotel. We took the shuttle from the airport to the hotel. We were let out in the middle of the hotel. VERY, VERY confusing. After walking back and fourth between check in desks, we findly found the right one. Our room was very nice, you couldn't ask for a better one. At least not until you opened the curtain and looked at the parking lot. There are no coffe pots in the room, which explains the long lines at the Star Bucks. While gambling the first night, we couldn't find a waitress. I asked one of the floor boss' if we could get a drink, he said "If I see one, I will send her your way." If, your looking for more bang for your buck, try the Fremont. That's where I will stay next time.

Wow! We stayed in a junior suite in the new rush tower and it was one of the nicest rooms we've ever stayed in. The room was large with an entry way, make-up desk, sofa and love seat with a 42 inch flat screen and another 42 inch flat screen at the king bed. Everything was very clean and the room was extremely well decorated. My wife just wanted to stay in the room instead of going down to gamble. We ate the Sunday evening seafood buffet and it was very good as well.

I was very pleased with my latest visit to the Golden Nugget, Aug 5-9, 2010. I've stayed in the Gold Tower before and was a little concerned about staying in the Carson Tower, but it turned out to be very nice, with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The walk to the casino and pool really is no big deal, so for the savings it was worth it. Ask for a mountain view room. Chart House restaurant in the Rush Tower is excellent, especially for lunch - just grab yourself a seat at the bar and enjoy watching the fish in the fantastic aquarium. Spa is not as glamorous as those at strip properties, but it's comfortable, and I had a great massage. Highly recommended. I would advise not booking a Gray Line shuttle transfer in your package, and going with another carrier when you get to the airport. You only save a dollar or two by booking in advance, and Gray Line kept me (and other passengers) waiting a long time, both at the airport (45 mins) and at the hotel (30 mins) on the return. I've had a much better experience with Showtime shuttles in the past and would recommend them over Gray Line.
