I actually was quite surprised at how nice this place is considering it is in "old" Las Vegas and not on the strip BUT we actually were so happy with this place that we won't stay anywhere but here. Fremont street is great at night and all the casinos are right next to each other to hunt for those food and drink deals. Way better than any snooty hotel on the strip for sure!

Even though this is an older hotel, it had recent updates and was immaculate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was awesome and affordable. I like that the streets were covered and blocked off from traffic. The strip is cool to visit but the downtown area still rocks!

I have been to Vegas a lot and have always stayed on the strip, so when our friends said lets stay down town, I was a little "iffy" about it. Turns out it was the best Vegas trip ever. The Golden Nugget had everything we needed and more. Fantastic restaurants and all day dining, quiet rooms, comfy beds, phenomenal pool area,Cheap table games, enjoyable sports book and the best thing of all is Fremont street is just a step or two away. giving you access to at least 10 other casinos without paying for cabs or walking 10 miles. Is it Glitzy like the Belagio?..... NO.... Did I have more fun?......YES.

The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was small but very interesting with the waterslide that went through the shark tank. It was nice they had a smaller, adult only pool, with waterside waitstaff. Great location if you want to be in Fremont. Amazing steak house... There aren't enough seats near the pool, the pool is too small and cramped, there are too many "paid" seating areas. However, like all Vegas hotels there's a stench of cigarette smoke EVERYWHERE (except our room). There's no path in or out of the hotel that doesn't go through 100 slot machines (same as all other vegas buildings)

This hotel was a surprising stay. When you think of downtown Las Vegas you might get the idea that the hotels and casinos are lower quality or have sawdust on the floor. Not so with the Golden Nugget. It's just incredible from the rooms to the pool to the casino. All exceeded my expectation. I would stay here again. I was traveling with business associates. The other nice and cool part is the Fremont Street Experience with live bands, drinks and shops. If you're looking for a change from the strip look no further than the Golden Nugget.
