Stayed in the Carson Tower, thought the room was ok but we noticed one day that when it was cleaned that a towel was left behind the door and some paper was left on the floor. Glasses that had been brought to the room had to be hand given to the cleaners as over several days they had grown in numbers. Pool area and slide were great and the robes in the rooms came in handy.. Will stay again but probably in the Rush tower. Some noise from the rooms over us but not much.... Food at the fancier places was very good!!!

This hotel was an excellent choice. The location was perfect for taking in the sights and sounds of Fremont Street. The staff was accomodating, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the food in the restauarnts we frequented was very very good! When we return, however, we will hope to make arrangements to stay in the tower that is closer to the casino floor and the restauarants only due to a personal health issue.

We LOVED staying at The Golden Nugget! It was a fun experience to be downtown instead of on the strip...however, a trip to Vegas usually means spending time on the strip. We didn't realize we would be spending $60 + tip everytime we went to the strip, so that was poor planning on our part. Our flight came in late afternoon, by the time we got to the hotel and changed, we had to rush to the strip for a show we had tickets for...but it was too late to enjoy the rest of the things we wanted to see, so we had to pay cab fare the next day also! I will probably ALWAYS stay at the Golden Nugget on future trips to Sin City, but I will only be spending one day on the strip to avoid the high cab fare!

Having traveled 65 countries and 48 states, I'm an adaptable, seasoned traveler who's accommodations have ranged from pup tent in the jungles of Borneo to 5-star suites at world-class resorts. So, following lengthly flight and shuttle delays, grumpy me arrived at my hotel at 3 a.m. Fortunately I was able to check in at this ungodly hour and my room at the Golden Nugget, or "GN" as the locals say, was quite nice. Believe me, a stable would have looked good at this time... GN is a sprawling complex with numerous amenities, so large in fact, it's difficult to find your way around -- probably intentional since, gee, if I'm lost I may as well play the omnipresent slots! Disappointment continued as housekeeping failed to clean my room the first day. I had to call them to at least get clean towels. Hotel restaurants were also somewhat disappointing. Portions/prices for breakfast were too much for someone who doesn't want a minimum of 3-egg omelets. So I meandered my way to the nearest McDonald's for their senior breakfast. I must add I was pleased with GN's lunch and dinner menus, especially room service. Steaks to burgers were delicious, impressively presented, and those taking my orders and the service personnel who delivered the food were extremely competent and courteous. Amenities such as massages at GN are also disappointing. Even for Vegas, I think $150-plus is exorbitant for a 1-hour massage, i.e., the advertised price of $120, plus taxes, plus a high-pressure push for a mandatory gratuity brings the total to over $150! So, yes, I would probably stay at the GN again on any future trip to Las Vegas, my expectations just wouldn't be so high...
