I've stayed at the Golden Nugget over twenty times in the past eight years the last being in May of 2011. I upgraded to a Cold Tower room. It was worht the additional dollars because you step of the eleveator and the casino is right there. No long wald from the Carson Tower. Lots to choose from at the buffet, food quality generally very good, although not as good as when Steve Wynn ran the operation. Check in/out very efficient, fast friendly. Only drwaback not enough tables open in casino, all blackjack tables always full, even late at night.

hotel was very nice, had a few restaurants that were excellent (grotto my fav!!), in middle of fremont st. everything dies down after midnight-ish, so there isn't much of the 24-hour business as the strip, that could be good or bad depending on what you want from vegas. no complaints about the hotel, it was great.

I am a fan of old Vegas. The Nugget has become my place to stay. I usually rent a car so I can go out and enjoy some of the out door things around Vegas. The parking deck is just steps away from the front door. The swimming pool, hot tub, slide, shark tank, and fire pit are fun for all ages. The Freemont Street Experience is right out your front door. When in the hotel you can't tell any difference from the big boys on the strip. They make you feel at home.

We stayed in the brand new Rush Tower at the Golden Nuggett. Here's why I picked this room. I was worried about it being smokey, I didnt want to hear any noise from Fremont street or the club, the shower not being well pressured, the distance of the hotel to the sights, and the hotel pool and jacuzzi being available to relax at. All of these things met my expectations and we were happy overall with our stay. I'd even venture to say the room itself was my top 3 highlights of our visit. As far as the room, well, the faucet water was GROSS, so the $7 bottle of water in the room they had available I thought was a serious PRICE RIP OFF! Anyway, my HOT TIP FOR ALL LAS VEGAS GO-ERS, there are Walgreens everywhere and we bought a couple gallons of water and kept them in our room. Even re-filling our smaller travel water bottles. Call me cheap, but Id rather spend my money elsewhere. On a budget, thats the way it is. :-) The weather was in the 50s and sunny all week. The pool was surprisingly nice and warm in the sun. Jacuzzi was just the right temp and size too! The slide and 'tank' were great, provided a few good laughs. They even have this cool little propane powered fire pit and mulitple heaters around to warm up under-which i did! As for the buffett a the GN, go ahead and pass on it unless you want to save a little with those coupons they give you at check in. We were pinched for time a couple days and decided to hit it up. It did the trick, wasn't gross, but didn't WOW us either. I had higher expectations for Vegas but our fault for not exploring the strip further. The wait staff was super friendly and stayed right on top of any requests we had, I was happy for that... And finally, my last tip. Dont bother with the GN ticketing office for info and purchasing Tours, etc. When I asked a questions about the Grand Canyon Tour, I was only handed a flyer and sent on my way. They wanted to charge significantly more than buying the same exact tour advertised all over the strip and Fremont St. The guy on the Fremont Street booths tours was soooo informative and for the same tour waaayyy cheaper. Overall, I would highly recommend to anyone to stay at the Golden Nuggett. It was most definitely the nicest one on Fremont Street and a good value.
