I would have paid more...
04/17/2009If i had known better i would have spent a little more and gone to a hotel that at least had rooms that didn't look like the last time ...
If I had known better I would have spent a little more and gone to a hotel that at least had rooms that didn't look like the last time they saw a decorator was during the days of Magnum PI (wall paper ready to fall off the walls etc.) The whole hotel didn't need just a facelift but rather demolition. Also daily, our rooms didn't get cleaned till almost 3 in the afternoon, which meant times when we were back after being gone all day we had a cleaning lady trying to get in, there were some days I just said ""forget it"". What I did like is that we were across the street from the Zoo and in the morning when you woke up you could hear all the wild life bellowing their native calls, I felt as if I was in the rainforest... some may not like that.

The hotel was old and in bad need of a remodeling, however our rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The hotel is located on the opposite side of all the noise on Waikiki and one block from Starbucks. The breakfast was pretty good but the dining area was old and tired. This is a good hotel if you are traveling on a budget. Do not expect anything fancy. The rooms were small but clean and the beds were comfortable.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel 2 times in 2008 (May and December) and we enjoyed both stays a lot. Hotel is nothing special but it is nice and clean and at great location. So if you are not planning to spend a lot of time in your hotel room then this is a very good choice hotel.

This hotel is a bit wear-worn but friendly, clean, reasonably priced, and in an ideal location... right on the edge of Kapiolani park, so you can get easily get away from the Waikiki crowds when you want to. The restaurant is not great but, I mean, c'mon, there are about a thousand other eating places within a couple blocks. And if you want a nicer hotel lobby to hang out in, walk about a block to the Marriot, where there is a latte place in the lobby, which doesn't have the loooong lines of the local Starbucks.

Feb. 2009. I have been to Hawaii several times and will definitely go back and stay at this hotel. The room was clean, spacious and the view of Diamond Head and the ocean was magnificent! The cleaning staff kept our room clean and well supplied with clean towels every day. For the money, the Queen Kapiolani was a real bargain. Being on the east end of Waikiki, you are within walking distance of anything in Waikiki, yet it was easy to zip out of town without going through dowtown Waikiki. The hotel is right across the street from the park, which is a great place to walk. The parking spaces are small, so if you have a vehicle don't get a big SUV. The restaurant food was good, but the service was pretty slow and the dining room definitely needs to be remodeled. But, the hotel is just around the corner from LuLu's (great breakfast) and Starbucks and there are great restaurants within easy walking distance. Bottom line, I will stay here again on my next trip to Hawaii. PR from MO.
