Not to bad of a hotel. Its not 5stars, but if you wanted to stay in your room this is not the place. But if you are there to visit then this is a good place to stay. The people where nice and the room was quit at night. Its not far from the beach right around the corner. Places too eat and take a walk down main street is right there also. Was there for 4 nights and will stay here again. Also if you like to scuba, boogie board or surf board, down stairs in the lobby there is a place you can buy or rent any items you need. I looked around and is the cheapest around I found.

Well, this hotel if for sleeping and showering. Thats about it. It most definately is not someplace you want to hang out. The staff is really nice and helpful and the location is prime. Prime in the sense that it is at the end of the strip and a couple hotels up. So you are not in the middle of the non-stop foot traffic and mayhem that is Waikiki. Like other hotels, they burn you for parking. Be smart and walk a few blocks and park up the street in Kapahulu. Don't feed the greed! The restaurant looks like a truck stop so needless to say we didn't eat there. One thing that really was annoying was the elevators were so SLOW!!! At times we waited almost 5 minutes for a car. A couple times we just took the escalator to the second floor then got into the stairwell and hiked back up. Very lame! But we did need the exercise.... Also, I would highly recomend NOT getting a corner room. Yeah they are a bit bigger than the other rooms and the crank-windows seem like a great idea....BUT!!!...You will be awakened off and on all night with traffic noise and sirens! Lucky for me I had an RX that knocked me out for the most part. I stayed in a standard room before and it was MUCH more quiet. Go for that. So in the end, if you are on a budget and need to stay in Waikiki then this may be for you. It was only around $70 a night with AAA. First time I stayed was with my borther-in-law and it served its purpose, this last time was with my wife...Needless to say, I won't be booking the next vacation hotel.

Each time my family has gone to Oahu, we have stayed at this hotel (since 2002). This is perfect location-close to the beach and zoo and busline. Rates are very affordable and best of all-ALL of the employees from registration, to bell hop to cleaning folks -go way beyond the normal expectations. We are always treated fabulously and these folks seem to go out of their way to make sure we are well taken care of. Our recent stay-last week, we were booked into a room with twin size beds which we did not know until we arrived and were ready to check in. We asked for a couple of extra towels and less than 5 minutes we had them. People need to understand the history behind the hotel and appreciate it for what it is-if you want the 5 star accomodations, then you need to book a 5 star hotel and pay those prices.

Stayed June 14-19. Got in after 10 p.m. because of a delayed flight and got into my room quickly. Staff was responsive and friendly to everything we needed - extra towels, a lost room key, money lost in the soda machine. Walk to the beach in 2 minutes. We a a Diamond Head view studio - pretty roomy for the 2 of us. Quite a bit of noise from the zoo in the morning as it's right across the street (they feed the monkeys at 8:30 a.m. We learned that pretty quickly) but nothing you can't cover with the A/C. We did get quite a bit of wind and the slat windows don't do much to block it, but we didn't need to use the A/C except for once or twice. The unit was set pretty high, but you can just flip the switch on the wall. Yes, it's older. Yes, the elevators can be slow, but I deal with slower at my work. Yes, it could do with some rehab on paint and carpet and pillows that aren't so flat. The pool area is small, but wasn't ever busy (why would it be with the beach so close?). We liked it because it felt comfortable. It's a great choice for those wanting to spend their money on other activities or those on a budget.

What more can you ask for. You are a block away from Waikiki Beach, walking distance too the Zoo, the park, the Band Shell, shopping, and favorite Resturants. You also have the City Bus right their, to take you all over the Island. No need to rent a car. You don't have to pay for parking if you take city bus. The Queen Kapiolani is very pleasant, clean, the staff is Great! We have never had anything bad too say about this Hotel. They are always their too help you out. If you want a big fancy Hotel, then this is not for you. But all I can say is, why spend all kinds of big bucks, when all you are going too do is sleep their. I would rather pay less, and get more out of my vacation, on shopping, or other side trips. Barb & John from Chicago
