I do recommend that if you are a single person and get a moderate room .. It is extremely tiny...Very Very Very Small.. Great HD television,Icebox inisde the dresser,great maid service..Overall a small room .. Great Location however a bigger room would have been to be a better deal if your afraid of inclosed spaces.

11/15/2011I booked this hotel on the pic price line showed of a remodeled room. what i got was a room way in the corner that smelled like mold and elevators ...
I BOOKED THIS HOTEL ON THE PIC PRICE LINE SHOWED OF A REMODELED ROOM. WHAT I GOT WAS A ROOM WAY IN THE CORNER THAT SMELLED LIKE MOLD AND ELEVATORS TAPED OFF SAYING OUT OF SERVICE. ACTUALLY, THE WHOLE FLOOR WAS OUT OF SERVICE.

The Queen Kapiolani is a good value. It is not a fancy hotel, and the rooms are just OK...BUT the location is great! If you are coming to Waikiki to spend all your time in the hotel, this is not the place for you. If you just need a convenient place to sleep while you spend most of your time exploring and having a blast, then it is a great deal.

My wife and I arrived to a smiling and helpful staff. The lobby is beautiful and nicely decorated. We were taken up to our room and found that we had been put into a room with 2 twin sized beds. Not acceptable. We specified one queen bed when booking. I called the office and they quickly moved us into a room with one full sized bed. This is the largest size this hotel offers, (or at least that's what we were told). The room was clean enough. Room was tiny. It was actually a concern of ours for bringing luggage in. We had to move our luggage to get around the bed. One suitcase couldn't fit in the closet. No bugs or sign of other visitors. The walls are paper thin. You can hear other visitors TV's, hushed conversations, restroom use, etc. We had a wonderful view of the low budget apartment complex next door. Windows did not have screens so I was a little concerned about bugs but it never became an issue. Pool area was nice but the pool itself was very small. Hotel location is great and if that's all your after, this is the place for you. Wifi isn't free, (I think it was $5), and I never saw the free breakfast so I can't comment on the quality of that. Overall, I probably would pay a little more to get a better place.

From what I've heard this hotel has been undergoing renovations. The common areas are quite nice with interesting artwork about the royal family. The common areas are clean and modern. The pool is small, but the view from it towards Diamond Head is excellent, and the beach with a breakwater is only 1 block away. Nice brunch buffet. Great location across the street from the Zoo, Aquarium and large parks. Easy access to the East parts of Waikiki and beyond, also the H1 highway to the north. Cons were a cheap Air Conditioning unit you had to keep the bathroom door closed for it to be effective and the elevators caused delays due to various programming issues. Overall the staff was quite nice and it was a great experience!
