We booked this hotel at a price that's probably comparable to 3 star level hotels. For that price, this was a great hotel. Clean, great service, comfortable, convenient location. We got a standard room which was comfortable enough. A bit small but clean. Bathroom was clean as well. Would be even better if wireless internet was free.

We booked an executive floor room; however, when we checked in, we were being told that the executive floor was shot down due to some sort of construction according to the front deck. With almost 6 hrs driving from Los Angeles, my two kids were tired. So I had to accept the reception's offer without any sorts of compensation in terms of discount and promo to a better room /suite. Very disappointed. Internet was extremely slow....slow...slow. Robert

Hotel nikko used to pay a lot more attention to detail and seemed more exclusive just 5 years ago. The front desk staff is still friendly and accommodating and the hotel still has an aura of Japanese. The rooms are still quiet. The bed linens are still nice. I always felt safe and at home there. They upgrade the sinks to bowl sinks--very nice! The bellhops and valet guys are the best I have ever encountered. Now for the ranting. There was hair in our tub. When we first got there. Mind you just a single hair, but it was a curly one from ahem, I'll just stop there. They still want to charge for wifi. Room service is now on a tray rather than a cart. The room furniture is banged up. The lobby bathroom is like an airport bathroom. The bartender in the lower bar hates her job. The hotel restaurant bar has bizarre hours. The French toast is now like anyone's. it used to be a dramatic triangulation prism of golden deliciousness, a sight to be seen, now it's just slices. I will always have a spot in my heart for you nikko, but I think I'll try the four seasons.
