The ratings I left speak for themselves. Only "excellent" rating is for the location. Few tips: -if you're driving to the hotel as we did, make sure you call and get direction of how you need to find the "tricky" unmarked ramp otherwise you'll end up going in circles. -Be aware there were sooo many school trips and kids they made our morning sleep in a disaster due to the noise. -We stayed on the 12th floor where they have the equipments for the pool. VERY noisy floor in spite of changing 2 rooms. Humming loud machines 24hrs. -moldy curtains and some part of the ceiling as well, likely from a water drip or damage. -I paid around $* for 3 nights through the travel agency and they accidently dropped off a bill for $* in the am. When I asked they apologized and said I should disregard that bill as it was an accident!!! At least I got to learn I could've hada better deal somehow! There's more to ruin your stay but this shouls suffice to make you to want to look somewhere else.

The hotel room was great, it was large and very clean. It is a great location and close to all the monuments. The customer service at the hotel was very inconsistent. The concierge and front desk was very helpful and eager to give advice on where to go and what to see. Otherwise, the employees at the hotel were not helpful and did not make you feel welcome. There seemed to be a general attitude in the hotel that the employees were not happy to be there. We did not have a menu for the restaurant in our room and called down for assistance and we were told that we could go down and get more information. When I asked the restaurant to take a menu up to our room they said no. Finally, when we checked out, the hotel double charged us for our stay after I had provided documentation showing that we had already paid. When it was all said and done we paid travel online for our stay, and then the hotel billed us twice. There were also several miscellaneous charges billed to our card for several hundred dollars that we never approved. At this point the hotel has not resolved the issue with the billing. DC is a great city but I would not recommend this hotel.

During our visit to DC there was a snow storm (12" in about 8-12 hours). Although this was not a lot of snow for us it apparently is enough to essentially shut down DC. Unfortunately for L'Enfant Plaza this gave us plenty of time to spend in our hotel. The room was pretty average. My only real concerns were that our room with "scenic view of the monuments" included a view of the courtyard and being able to see the very tip of the national monument and that the heater or fan (I am not sure which) made a rattling sound the ENTIRE time. The most frustrating part of the stay though was the food. Everyone knows that hotel restaurants are over priced so we had planned on eating at one of the many restaurants in the promenade (located below the hotel) or surrounding restaurants. We started our search in the promenade to avoid to snow only to learn that it is undergoing renovations and EVERYTHING was closed. After an exhausting day walking through the snow and finding all surrounding restaurants closed we finally decided to try the hotel restaurant. If it hadn't been for this experience I would have chalked it all up to weather but this was the final straw that led to this review. The staff at the American Grill was friendly however that did little to help make up for the food. The food was undercooked and we were charged $* for a salad (we didn't even eat) that the waiter served my husband with his steak. When the waiter had asked him about his salad we had assumed it came with the steak as is the case with most restaurants so I would recommend asking them specifically what comes with your food.

Overall experience was great. Location is perfect, a short walk from the mall. Also, convenient metro stop in lower level. 4 miles from Reagan National as well. Food was excellent in the restaurant as well as great service. Will certainly plan on staying again in the future. Great location if you have limited time in DC. Only negative is that the pool is currently closed due to renovation.
