We found the restaurant very unpleasant , the wait staff was not friendly, they were slow, food was average. The doormen were very good, pleasant and helpful. The overall experience was average, the location is good for a walk down to the national mall, but the overall surroundings not great when you return to the hotel and want to relax.

based on reading reviews from previous guests, I was prepared that the gust rooms would be outdated, but clean. The beds were comfortable and it's on a great location for the Metro. We enjoyed the updated court in the lower level of the plaza. I was very disappointed the the service at the front desk. At check in, the employee had no interest in helping me. The following day, I visited the front desk as no one seemed to be manning the concierge desk during our visit. I simply needed to have the confirmation printed from my email for the Segway tour I had booked. The same employee took her time figuring out how she could print it for me. At checkout, the same uninterested service.

The hotel rooms need updating. The first room we were in had an A/c leak from the ceiling. After two days of leaky ceiling and wet carpet, we told the staff, who moved us to a new room. The new room had no leak, but no A/c either, so we spent the rest of the week with the screen door open. Luckily, it was not stuck as the door in the first room had been. The staff were great -in spite of a 90 degree pool and our room issues.
