Chose hotel because of location to downtown DC sights. Hotel has it's own Metro station which is very convenient, hence we used the Metro to maneuver around DC the entire weekend. You could get to the Metro station w/o having to go outside. The hotel has a very nice HOT breakfast buffet with a good deal of variety. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpeful. There is a shopping plaza located directly beneath the hotel which has a few restaurants, other small shops and a PNC bank w/ATM. We stayed in an executive room w/king bed. It is very spacious. Room contained a pull out sofa w/2 chairs, a small fridge, and a work desk. The size and position of the TV left a lot to be desired but we did not watch a lot, spent most of our time sightseeing. The bathroom was clean but the lighting was not very good. One issue we did have was with the wireless service that the hotel provides. It is NOT free. The signal is very strong and the connection is good, but you have to pay to use it. You also must pay if you'd like to use the business center to get on the internet. They have an hourly ($5/hr), daily ($12/day) or 3-day ($27) option. We've stayed at less expensive hotels that offer FREE wireless with the same or better signal quality. As for the overall quality of the stay, we are very pleased. Our main concern was location and this hotel's location is nearly perfect. It is one block from the National Mall where the Smithsonian museums are located.

Me and my family are from another country, we came to the US to have a great time in the world famous washington dc. This hotel treated us in the most exceedingly manor we have ever encounterd. My husband was scammed almost double the normal rate, why they did this we dont know. Also we had over $40,000 worth of Harry Winston Jewlery in our safe, We were the only ones with the key and after the maid cleaned our room it was all gone. We complained and filed a police report and they didnt do anything, they actually asked us to leave the hotel without any refund or compensation. They paid a loss of dammages settlement of $300 dollars. Due to there no responsibility clause they make you sign, the're not intittled to any boundness. This was the worst experiance of our lives.

You cannot beat this hotel for location to the places most people want to go. Sitting right over a metro station save a lot of walking and gives great convenience. The rooms are spacious and clean, but they could use a little updating. The rooms show a the wear and tear of years. Still, I would recommend it as a great value in a great location.

I must say that the the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel is nicely situated. It is adjacent to the Smithsonian Museums, a Metro stop and the waterfront. That's about all that I can say that was good about it. The staff was questionable. The evening staff was superb. They had a wealth of knowledge and were very helpful. The day staff was horrible. They had almost no knowledge, they were very inexperienced, and unhelpful. In addition, one of the bellhops lied to me. I was getting a taxi to the airport, and he said that he knew of a private car service that was cheaper than a taxi. When he quoted the price, I decided to take that taxi, and the taxi ended up being significantly cheaper. That kind of lying is uncalled for. Plus, there was a charge for everything. There was not free internet access (which is common in most hotels). For a business traveler, you do not want to pay an exorbitant amount for a hotel, and then be nickel and dimed for services. In spite of its great location, I would NOT stay at this hotel again. It was a disappointment.

We stayed in Room 15115. The room was OK but needed updating. The balcony had a bunch of junk on it (shovels etc.) it looked like a storage shed. We tried to pick a hotel with a pool for the kids. The pool is an outdoor pool in a bubble. The path leading to the pool was dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The location is great because it is a couple blocks from the air and space and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. All they would have to do is pay a little more attention to cleanliness and the hotel would deserve a higher rating. Oh...I forgot to mention the bathtub. It was a composite type bathtub and it was clearly not installed properly because as you stepped on one side of the tub area another area moved. It truly felt like you were surfing when taking a shower because you could not keep your balance without holding onto the wall. I never experienced anything like it before.
