i travel alot, and after leaving kauai flew into honolulu for a five day stay at this hotel..the hotel is clean and so are the rooms. we have a great ocean view...but, i felt as though i was staying in a shopping mall that had a hotel in it, rather then a hotel that had shops in it...there are so many stores (i believe there were 2 abc stores alone) and they have people peddling their wares in your face.......i did not get the true hawaiin flair at this hotel...oh one major problem i found with the rooms...the bathrooms are very small...the area where one would wash and or makeup is in front of the shower and toilet area....the door is between the wash and shower area, but there is no door in front of the wash area leading to the room....and there is only one light switch for both areas....so if someone has to use the rest room during the night and turns on the light, it lights up the entire room.....and can wake anyone sleeping...supprised marriott would not put a door in this location

I travel a fair amount for both business and pleasure. My hotel of choice is usually Marriott and I consider myself fairly particular. This hotel is in an excellent location with proximity to the beach and the shopping / restaurants / bars in Waikiki. Most are in walking distance or no more thana $* cab ride. We did a travel website package that included air - hotel and car. I was upgraded to a partial beach view room. The room was nice and clean, had a balcony and refrig which is good for bringing in your own snacks, wine, water etc. I found the staff very accomodating. Nice pool area with a bar and good service - a bit pricey but expected. One negtive is having to pay to get a cabana like cover for shade. We needed a car to travel to various golf courses but you don't really need one otherwise and the parking fees are about $*/ day. Check out Dukes for beachfront casual dining and drinks and HY's Steakhouse for high end 5 star. The two restaurants on the pool level are good as well. Avoid breakfast is cost is an issue - although good it's pricey. We used Tee Times Hawaii for booking golf and received good deals and service. Highly rec. Turtle Bay

The Marriott Waikiki Beach is at the South/East end of Waikiki "strip." The hotel is well maintained and service was friendly. Upon arrival they upgraded us to a partial ocean view room which was great. The bed was very comfortable and linens were very nice. On the negative side, they charge for every little thing, self parking was very expensive at $*/day, internet use was extra, and business computers use were $*/20 minutes (what!?). The hotel gardens and lobby were picture perfect and there are two nice swimming pools on the second floor. We found the hotel restaurants too pricey, but there were many other places to eat within walking distance. When booked as part of a package this place was within our budget and I would stay here again, but maybe find a different place to park.

We had three nights booked, 1 before our cruise and 2 after, the first night we received an upgrade (free) for a partial ocean view, partial being the key word, but the room was a good size with a king bed. Upon return from the cruise we arrived at the hotel at 9:00 am and hoped that they would store our luggage until check-in time and but instead allowed us to check-in immediately as they had a room available. A call to housekeeping brought additional towels and tissues within 5 minutes. Overall experience was excellent and Marriott will be our first choice next time.
