The hotel lobby is only a 2 minute walk to the beach. This particular part of the beach is perfect for little kids and those who don't like waves since there's a breaker (is that the right word?) If you want waves, you can walk another minute to a nearby beach where you can rent surfboards or play in the water. The lobby reception desk helped me check in after 12am (there were still two people working the desk because they had heard our flight was delayed three hours--and they were expecting us and others from our flight!) They got us to our room quickly. The bed was very comfortable. The view was nice (partial ocean). Hotel breakfast buffet was yummy and about the average price of a California buffet, $17 (which seems reasonable since all other food from the surrounding area was outrageously priced). I loved the pool area. There were two pools to choose from, both on the third floor with views of the ocean and comfy lounge seats. It was beautiful. I visited on a particularly rainy week in December so I spent more time in the jacuzzi than the ocean. Big bed. A lot of pillows. Cable TV. Balcony with two chairs and a table--great for reading. The only thing I don't like about Waikiki in general (not the hotels fault) is that there are a ton of homeless transients around, some of them kind of scary. But I'd stay there again.

the hotel was perfectly located for me. the beach was right across the street. the honolulu zoo, diamond head, and aquarium were a couple of blocks to 2 miles the left of the hotel, and the international marketplace to the right about 4 or 5 blocks away. the interior was just beautiful, especially the atrium. the bed was sooooo comfortable! i was upgraded from a city to partial ocean view. when i stepped out onto my balcony, i had a view of both the beach and diamond head. the only bad thing i have to say is that th hotel charges you for using their cable. if you want to see a movie on hob or showtime, you have to pay for it. that is absolutely ridiculous. another was the charge for placing a call using the hotel phone locally: $1. the hotel also charges $3 per load to wash your clothes and $3 per load to dry. i brought my clothes home dirty and washed them for free. the staf were friendly and helpful.

The Marriott Waikiki Beach was outstanding. We all really enjoyed the beautiful pools and views of the beach. The balcony on our room was a wonderful place to relax each day and watch the surfers. The location is convenient to everywhere you want to be on Waikiki Beach; our family enjoyed the walks and it was never very far to great restaurants and shopping. We ate at the pool side grill our first afternoon and one of the onsite restaurants another evening. Both were excellent. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone, whether traveling alone, with a family or group. The staff took great care of us while visiting paradise.
