When we booked this hotel, we upgraded to a room with an oceanfront view. The room we were given was located on the 3rd floor behind trees and overlooking a roof below. We could barely see the ocean through the trees. The bed had no top sheet. We requested one and housekeeping brought it up and handed it to us at the door. We had to put it on the bed. We found hair (not ours) in the bathroom, leading us to believe it wasn't cleaned. We only hoped the linens had been changed on the bed. When we arrived the staff was on strike. They marched around the perimeter of the hotel banging on pots with spoons, chanting and shouting, disturbing guests who wanted to relax at the pool or beach. Complaining to the temporary staff was pointless. In addition, all the restaurants and bars owned by the hotel were not open for the first two days, or were being run by temporary staff. When the strike was over, we discovered the temporary staff was actually more courteous than the regular staff. This hotel is a disgrace to the Hilton name, a name we have always trusted when we stay in a hotel. We will NOT book with this hotel again.

This Hilton is definitely luxurious and in one of the best locations in Waikiki, you can walk to so many attractions (driving is a hassle) and the rooms and lobbies are spacious, a good place for kids and the pools and beach are right there and excellent. There was a tsunami alert during our stay and the hotel kept us upstairs for a few hours to avoid possible flooding. The tsunami was barely noticeable however so this confinement wasn't necessary, but the staff was quite apologetic that they had to protect us for our own good! If you're going to stay on the beaten path in Hawaii and do the tourist thing this is probably the best place to do it
