I stayed at the Hilton Hawiian Village Beach Resort in Oct., 2010. I must not have been paying close attention when I booked this hotel because when we arrived, we were just amazed at how beautiful the place was. It was huge, you never really had to leave the resort. Unfortunately, the hotel went on strike the morning after we arrived. There were restaurants still open but it did have an impact on our stay. The striking hotel workers marched around the perimeter of the hotel yelling, "Guest Go Home!". This was pretty disconcerting considering what we were paying to stay there. Upper management stepped in and cleaned rooms and served cocktails in the bars that actually opened for business. I would stay there again though. It was right on the ocean, they took care of booking our Pearl Harbor tour, and we had a great time.

I have never written a review but I felt compelled to write about my stay here. In a word, the place is DELIGHTFUL! The staff seem to LIKE working there and helping out. Our room was clean, stocked, perfectly sized, and we had a great view. The bathroom was gorgeous...nicer than my bathroom for sure! We left our housekeeper/chambermaid a tip EVERY day because she came everyday that we were there but never saw her! (Don’t you hate when they bust in when you’re still sleeping or just got out of the shower?!) Other reviewers are right when they say that you don’t HAVE TO leave the hotel for anything! But you will to see the rest of Honolulu. Although, I drove my husband crazy because I practically wanted to eat at the Tropics Bar & Grill every day! I don’t know what they did to it but the Fish & Chips dish was the bomb!!!! The only negative thing is paying A LOT for parking but so what! That’s just the way it is.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa is a beautiful hotel right on the water at Waikiki Beach with a beautiful view of Diamond Head. We opted to upgrade to an ocean view room, and it was worth it. The way the hotel is situated, you can see both "downtown" Honolulu and the ocean, as well as Diamond head. We spend a lot of time on the balcony, and it made for a fantastic photo op. The hotel features 3 pools, but unfortunately they close a bit early (9pm i think) and were usually over crowded. The location is great with shops, restaurants, and tourist spots within walking distance. If i may make one suggestion however to anyone who may actually read this. Rent a car! get out of the tourist areas and see the rest of the island. you can drive all the way around the island in a few hours and you will be much better off because of it. My wife and i would drive off in the morning and find a secluded beach, pull over, and enjoy the day without hundreds of people crowding around us. There is so much to see in Hawaii, do not limit yourself to the tourist trap of Honolulu and Waikiki.
