the room was great, but wished it had a microwave in it. when we went out to eat we had leftovers, had to throw them away because was not a way to warm the food back up. also wish there had been a exhaust fan in bathroom. but beside the two things the room served its purpose. staff was great, room was cleaned every day. oh yes the parking was very tight, if you didn't get back early you didn't get a good parking spot.

We stayed there for a week in the middle of March, 2010. The previous reviews are accurate...except I don't remember the elevators being that slow. The staff was wonderful and they even got me the room I wanted. There were three of us and we all wanted our own bed. We had a one bedroom deluxe, ocean view with a kitchen and they apparently only have a few with two beds in the bedroom and the rest have kings. Sofa sleeper is in the living room area. I had called ahead of time and requested it....even though I knew they couldn't "guarantee" it. Not a bad walk to the center of Waikiki and the beach. If you want a less crowded beach, check out Fort DeRussey beach. Wonderful, quiet Fort DeRussey park below our room. Would definitely stay here again. I think one person did mention that they could use new pillows...this I do agree, but no big deal.

This is a great smaller hotel in a great location at the very beginning of Waikiki. This is the second time that we have stayed here and I can honestly say that it was what I expected. We returned again because we had such a good experience the first time and it is a good location to be close to the beach but easy to get out and about. The hotel is clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The pool can be cool at first, but there are great chaise lounges to rest on and warm up or a cabana if sun is not your thing. This time we faced the busy street and were on the 4th floor which could be a problem for light sleepers, however we weren't bothered by this at all. I agree that the elevators are slow and the parking in the garage can be tight at times, especially if you come in late. The beach is close by about a 5-10 minute walk and shopping is down the street if you want. If you are up early in the am, there is coffee and light pastries served.

We only stayed a couple of days but from the two nights stay at the Luana we were very impressed. The front desk staff were very nice in this nice smaller hotel right at the beginning of Waikiki overlooking a big park. The rooms were very nice, average size but what made it better was the small kitchen included. No stove but it had everything else. The bathroom was very nice and updated. We had the partial ocean view from the balcony and it's well worth the extra cost. It had a small but very nice pool and a large room gym on site. The only small complaint would be the really slow elevators. Other than that I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. Especially you can't beat the price.
