Do not stay at the MGM Grand. The hotel, itself, is cool and the rooms are somewhat nice. However, the $25 per night resort fee is downright wrong and unacceptable. Where does the MGM get off thinking they can charge people for services they may not want or use...it's wrong and when I told the MGM, they basically said "tough." There are other nicer hotels on the strip that blow away the MGM that have "a la carte" pricing and do not charge you for services you don't want.

The original room we booked ended up being a petite king and was located in special wing far from the regular tower of rooms. The room itself was small, with only a stall shower, a very non-private, glassed-in toilet 'closet', and overall in major need of a renovation. We quickly called the front desk and asked how much it would cost to upgrade to another room. The very kind front desk person was able to upgrade our room (for a fee) and even sent a complimentary bottle of champagne. The upgraded room was much better, but still not up to par for the price as compared to other hotels on the strip. Overall, the great price on our room was not worth it in the end.

A fine trip indeed. There were many things to do. A variety of places to eat great food. The tours to the Hoover Dam, the desert tours were wonderful to experience. The Las Vegas strip was alive and pulsating with energy. The museums were memorable. An all around great trip.
