We were a little suspicious of how inexpensive this hotel was, but we took a gamble and it worked out wonderful. The hotel is about a block from Bourbon Street - great for getting in at night but also very easy access to the art galleries and shops on Royal Street along with all the restaurants. Canal street is just a few blocks away, as is Decatur Street-- all the places in the French Quarter you'd want to be. Harrah's Casino is also only about a 10-15 minute walk. As for the room/ hotel itself, I loved the old-fashioned look and feel to it, especially the high ceilings and balcony overlooking the courtyard. Don't bring a car to NO if you don't need to!

The Ste Marie was everything a hotel should be (but rarely is nowadays). The location in the French Quarter is great and the architecture fits right in. The rooms were clean and tasteful, better than many upscale chains. The courtyard balcony rooms were perfect for quietly enjoying the mild weather. The staff were all friendly and fast - I checked in and out faster than at an upscale chain but with a lot more personal touch. Overall a great place made better by their reasonable rates.
