I loved that it didn't smell like cigars like other hotels the parking to me was near and i loved that the food places were open late. i really liked the pool and the great service. I definitely plan on staying on this hotel again it was so close to the strip and the view was amazing.

I stayed at the Hilton during my first trip to Vegas, about 20 years ago, when it was good but nothing special. Since then, they did a massive refurbishment that took the hotel up to 5-star level. However, it's been about 10 years since that refurbishment, and it's clearly time for another one. The room was top-of-the-line quality, with marble tables, plush chairs, etc. However, the wooden bases of tables, chairs, dresser, etc. were severely nicked, with pieces of wood broken off. The arms of the chairs were becoming threadbare. The in-room hotel guide referred to things that were no longer offered. They created a "Star Trek" bar in the center of the hotel that has since been repurposed, leaving the dramatic hexagonal entry-ways and futuristic lettering just looking sad. It didn't help that you had to walk through the bar to get to the monorail, and the lights were usually off, with one woman sitting in the dark, playing a slot machine by the light from the video display. That brings up the best part of the hotel, from my point of view. It's right on the monorail line, so you can stay in comfort then take the monorail to where you need to go without having to deal with the traffic moving up and down the Strip, or mess around with constantly needing to get taxis.

  • An OK deal for an off-The-Strip hotel

There was nothing really wrong with the Las Vegas Hilton during my stay, but it was NOT good value for money. I stayed three nights, and each night cost an average of $175. My room was very clean, but it was also a bit dingy and dated. The bathtub was cracked, and the trim paint was worn in spots. The hotel's location is not quite ideal if you have friends staying on The Strip. The monorail makes for an easy trip to Strip Hotels, but why ride a train to and fro when you can stay on The Strip for less money? I had never visited Las Vegas before, and I chose the Hilton because I've had good experiences with other Hilton hotels in other cities. During my stay, I checked out a lot of other Las Vegas hotels. Some were markedly better than the Hilton, such as the Venetian, while others, such as the Imperial Palace, were worse. Overall, if you're going to Vegas and want to enjoy things like nice pools, good restaurants and walk-out-the-door access to The Strip, I would not stay at the Hilton. My feelings about all this would be different if my room had been modern and up-to-date, the hotel offered at least one stellar restaurant and the service had been exceptional. In the end, the Las Vegas Hilton was merely a clean place to sleep, shower and change clothes. This is not bad, but it's not the kind of place that makes a Las Vegas stay memorable, and that's a shame.
