Their idea of a Queen size bed is actually a full. The wall paper was peeling. The drapes were torn and they had holes. The toilet handle was broken, the bathroom was really tiny. The air conditioning unit did not keep the room cool. They nickel and dime you for everything. When we checked in, the bellhop did not inquire about taking our bags upstairs. When housekeeping cleaned the room, they neglected to put certain things like the brewing mugs back. The Hilton has really gone down hill.I have been a Hilton Honors member for almost 6 years, never have I had such a bad experience. The staff really didn't seem to care and it showed.

My wife booked a flight/hotel package for a short stay in the bay area to celebrate my 55th birthday. This included a three night stay at the S.F. Hilton. The first room offered to us was adajcent to the elevator banks. The room also overlooked the pool, so the splashes and the shouts of the gleeful revelers competed with the constant ""whoosh"" sounds produced by the elevators. Room #2 offered by the surly desk clerk: small, dark, room barely able to accommodate the queen bed. Really depressingly claustrophobic. Back down to the front desk where the desk clerk was not only unsympathetic to our complaints, he began to argue with me. By then, I had had it with him, and asked to speak to a manager. Kept waiting for 10-15 minutes, the manager finally sauntered out from the back office. I expained our situation to him and requested a larger, lighter room located in a quiet part of the hotel. When he began to stonewall me, I asked him if the prepaid money that we paid could be refunded so that we could move to another hotel. He said this was not possible. The only thing that I could think of that could save us from staying in one of these horrible rooms was to offer to pay more to upgrade to a better room. This, surprisingly was possible, so we paid an additional $50.00 per night to upgrade to a ""Junior Suite"", which turned out to be a room large enough to accommodate a small loveseat and club chair in addition to a queen bed. The room itself was dirty, with stained and cigarette burned carpets and peeling wallpaper. There are so many great hotels in San Francisco. Avoid the Hilton at all costs.

The bed reserved was a queen bed - the bed was a full. The rooms were noisy - I could hear everything in the hall and in the rooms next to me. The charges just keep coming. I was told that there was free wifi in the hotel - only to find out that there is not. You can purchase high speed internet in your room for $16/day. I was then told that there was free wifi in the public areas of the hotel - this was not true. If you bought the service from your room you could access the wifi in the hotel lobby. The concierge was anything but helpful. I ended up going to the hotel across the street to access thier truly free internet and find what I was looking for. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms were nice and clean, the staff was very friendly.

I definitely would stay at this property again! My son and I came up for his college orientation at San Francisco State Univ. We stayed 4 days/3nights and it was worth every penny. Service was impeccable, safety and cleanliness was important to me (being a mom). Location was perfect. There were many places and things to see within walking distance. Everywhere else we caught the public transportation. I was going to rent a car for the day to get to the univ. but when I inquired with a cab on the fare, it was a bargain to go with the cab. If I had rented a car I would have to pay for the rental, gas, parking and not to mention the time wasted being lost!

This hotel is located on O'Farrell Street (between Mason and Taylor). Every time I left the hotel I was subjected to panhandlers. This was very annoying and left me feeling insecure. I stayed on the 7th floor in Tower 2. There was quite a bit of street noise and there is a parking garage across the street. When a car's alarm would sound, I would hear it. Towels are scratchy. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Next time I visit San Francisco I will stay near Pier 2 on the waterfront.
