I stayed at the Hilton San Francisco, located in Union Square. It was my frist trip to the city, and I was excited to be staying at one of my favorite hotel chains. However, upon arrival, things were not as I expected. I was told that the hotel was overbooked, and that I would have to check back later to see if a room was available- despite having secured reservations almost a month prior. Needless to say, I was not happy. I placed a call to website, and was told I would be moving to the Intercontinental. Although not pleased, this was fine to me as it was a nicer/newer hotel. A few minutes later, a hotel employee informed me that a room had been "found" for my stay. I was given a key, and checked in. When I walked into the room, I found it in disarray. The room was dirty, and looked as though the previous guests had literally just checked out. I had to wait on housekeeping to clean the room, and was never offered an apology. I will never stay there again, and do not recommend the hotel. Very disappointing service from a Hilton Hotel.

I stayed in tower 3 on the 11th floor. With self-park, I could drive up to the 11th floor and had my car handy during my stay. What a grand feature for packing the car and going on side trips!

Hotel Management Righted a Mistake Made by a online travel website

The two rooms I had booked through a online travel website, which were adjoining, each with double beds did not exist we discovered upon arrival at the Hilton San Francisco. When the hotel management realized the mistake that the online travel website reservation agent had made, they stepped in and upgraded us to the next best accommodations they could provide one room with two queen beds and an adjoining room with one king bed. Though this proved slightly problematic due to an elderly family member with whom we were traveling, the hotel management were AWESOME. They went out of their way to make sure our experience was positive. We were given a delicious $200+ in-room meal the night we arrived and they paid for amazing in-room breakfasts both mornings we were there. This more than compensated for not getting the city view we had booked through the online travel website and for one of us having to get up several times a night in order to check on our elderly family member instead of having one of us just be in the room with her which is why we had requested both rooms have two beds. A online travel website agent could NOT be reached after fifteen minutes of holding when we first arrived and realized that they had guaranteed a room reservation that the Hotel said did not exist in their design plan. The hotel was beautiful, clean, plush, and the food was incredible. But, the greatest praise goes to the management who really understand what it means to make the customer experience a supremely positive one. We normally stay at the Westin St. Francis when in San Francisco, but we'll definitely stay at the Hilton again. What a great experience!
