I was there for a convention at Moscone West. My room on the seventh floor was comfortable, with a couch, a generous desk, and a pretty good desk chair. I never heard a neighbor, but I could easily hear street sounds: shouting, fire-truck sirens (frequently, and well into the night), and the doorman's taxi whistle. The hotel is 30+ stories; I'm sure the noise is better on the upper floors, as I'm sure that prepaid bargain deals don't get you a room on an upper floor.

Got by just on public transportation, across the street from the BART station, right next to a streetcar stop, it's in the middle of Union Square, we were even able to hop on a bus to Golden Gate Park on the other side of the city, and the rooms and staff were very nice.

The location of this Hotel can not be beat. The room was just average. There was a lot of noise from the outside. The rooms seemed dark and dingy, however the lobby and other public places were spectacular. This place is all about the location!!!
