  • Great for the Price, but then again, you get what you pay for.

Me and my wife stay at Hotel Del Sol, for our first year anniversary. 5days, 4 nights, wed-sun. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Internet: Free WiFi was a welcome bonus. (Provided by AT&T) But, it was very flakely. I was connecting via my iPad3, and it would lose connection after only a few minutes, and I'd have to dis-connect, and re-connect to get it working again. This seemed to happen at any time of the day, so there wasn't a high-volume issue. Just flakey. You get what you pay for. Staff: Everyone we encountered was happy, and said hello/how-are-you/etc... When we asked for some local eatery suggestions we were not disappointed. Room/Cleanliness: Our door was exceedingly hard to close, and it wasn't just our door. You had to put in a lot of force to latch it, which when your next-door neighbor goes in and out 4-5 times at 5am, it's tend to gets you a little cranky. I'm sure they weren't too happy with us arriving late one evening after midnight. We had the Queen Cabana and I'm use to a king bed, so I may be a little bias, but I remember queen beds being a little bigger, but it was comfortable, and minus the door closing alarm clock at 5am, I slept well. There was a slight smell that never seemed to dissipate from the bathroom, but besides that everything was spotless. Decoration was a little drab, no pictures, and the color combinations are something to be desired. Our room also had an old dual fireplace thing, that just looked really odd. The marketing pictures on the website, are just that, the best of the best to show off the hotel. Your results may vary. Continental Breakfast: Free, and plenty. Variety however was missing. Each morning was the same, Bagels, Pastries, Coffee, Orange Juice, instant oatmeal, and literally dozen's of hard boiled eggs. I'm not sure if it was a San Francisco thing, but I've never seen so many eggs in my life. I didn't partake in the hard boiled eggs, as it's not an item I'd like to have as my first meal of the day. Overall it wasn't bad, but i desired, no 'longed for' some fresh fruit! Throw me an apple or banana at least. Location: Having free parking was one of the reasons we choose the Del Sol. But looked back now, we didn't need it (or the rental car for that matter) San Fran has a great public transit system, we even took the public bus a few times and got around just fine. There were also over 15 restaurants within 5 mins of walking. We tried 5 during our stay and loved each one.

A friend recommended this place since it is close by to them. The location was good, easy to walk to shops, restaurants, Fishermans Wharf (also easy access to bus routes) etc. The place is clean and friendly and the breakfast OK - but space is a bit limited. I guess most places in San Francisco will be expensive so the price is to be expected but seemed a high price for what was a fairly small room. But I did not shop around so maybe the this is normal. I had no real complaints and would stay here again if needed.

Hotel Del Sol, Thank you. You are the gem of an Oasis in the Marina. From the moment I walked in the door, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was Very clean on arrival and kept that way for the week. You provided my family with a simple and well rounded breakfast to get our day started. The FREE parking was a huge bonus as we had a car when away from SF. It was located perfectly, near all shops, cafes, parks, the water and our family. At night no problem, just look up for the palm trees with the colored lights and you'll find your way. Staying at this Hotel lets you experience life in the Marina and SF in a different way, a neighborhood experience not a cookie cutter hotel. I know you did over your beds since I left 2 wks ago. I can't wait to return. You are a beautiful, artistic gem, a gumdrop!

This location was GREAT and the staff was amazing. They were kind, helpful and very efficient. The location was so nice. Great restaurants and pubs just around the corner, parking was great to have for free (everywhere else is 40.00+ per night) I would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you want the hilton, this isn't it. If you want a nice little hotel with great service and location this is it. Oh and GREAT little breaky for free
