We purchased our reservations on the Internet from Travel website. We were concerned over the quality of our choice based primarily on the room rate. WHAT A BARGAN we had. The rate was very competitive. The hotel was wonderful from all aspects. The front desk couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The location was ideal for anyone wishing to experience the wonders of San Francisco.I recommend the Carlton to every one.

Helpful and friendly staff, good room, easy access to transportation. It is not really close to anything but also not very far from anything. Being a moderate walk from Union Square seems to mean that we paid somewhat less than what we have paid for a hotel that is much closer. It also means a quieter location. I liked the comfort from the ceiling fans. The beds and pillows are firmer than what we are used to at home, but everything was is excellent condition. We use the MUNI and 2 lines run right past the front door. It was only 1 block from Polk and from Post, 2 short blocks from Van Ness, and 3 blocks from the California Street Cable Car (up the hill) or Geary (down the hill). Someone who is not willing to walk a few blocks might like it less, but I would rather save a few bucks from Union Square prices and get a little exercise. We have stayed there before and plan to return. It is a good, solid hotel with good service and a location that represents a reasonable compromise of convenience and value.

This was a great hotel. My mom and I get a weekend a year that we escape our busy lives and what a wonderful place to get away. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Also the restaurant in the hotel is vegan friendly, hard to find.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Carlton. The staff was wonderful and so accomodating. One of our friends became ill and they extended her stay with no problem. They treated her with the utmost care and consideration. The diversity of the other guests was amazing. I met people from all over the world in this Green Hotel. It was Earth friendly and People oriented. The cleaning staff made this hotel sparkle. All we had to do was ask and it was to us in minutes. I would stay in this hotel time and again. I have recommended it to people already via email. Thanks to the staff for making this a memorable and pleasant visit.

My husband and I loved the Hotel Carlton! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful. I loved how the lobby felt like a well designed living room. You always saw people reading, talking and relaxing. When we left, we actually felt sad.
