First time to vacation as a family in SF. The staff was excellent; very friendly and attentive. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The only issue was the noise at night. We could hear every siren and truck in vicinity. It's not the hotel's fault. Perhaps heavier curtains on the windows instead of blinds would soak up some of the sound. Overall a good experience at a great price.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Carlton in a year and would come back again. The room accommodtions were very nice, the lobby is comfortable, the happy hour was a treat, and staff were very pleasant and helpful. On the negative side: the cable TV has quite limited channels; the room was cold and you have not way of controling the temperature. When we asked about the latter, they gave us an electric heater which really did not help. But for the money in San Francisco, the Carlton is a good choice.

Not knowing what to expect I kept my expectations on the low side and was very pleasantly surprised by the location, the building and the staff. We spent 5 days exploring the city and this was a great home away from home. I know the Tenderloin is close but for me it was like any other big city so not an issue.

The Hotel was great, good, clean and comfortable room. The Hotel staff was very helpfull, I had a family emergency just before check out and they did everything that was possible to extend my check out time and secure all my stuff while helping on looking for another Hotel nearby. Additionally the restaurant was awesome.

Room with king bed was nice, and clean. Room wall is thin so you might hear your next room neighbor and outside noice. No problem for me. Will stay there again as it is walking distance to all attractions.
