This hotel grew on me. It is an older boutique hotel so small bathroom and fewer amenities if you're used to chains. But the service was great and I ended up liking the trendy but edgy neighborhood. Careful where you walk at what time of night in the neighborhood. Not really Union Square but not quite Tenderloin either. I would go back. Great value for SF.

Stayed 4 nights at Hotel Carlton SF, the staff were wonderful and very helpful. The Moroccan restaurant was one of the best I had, a little pricey. The food was exceptional! The location was excellent, close to most of the attractions in SF. The only issue I had with Hotel Carlton was their heating system, it is central and I had no control of the room temperature. Which they fixed by bringing us an oil heater to the room. Recommended! Don't forget to try their Moroccan restaurant.

I have consistently found great deals for this hotel. It is very clean, and almost has that upscale feel to it. The staff are incredibly professional. In fact, I stayed at this hotel 8 months later, and the concierge remembered me. Plus, free wine reception daily! And an excellent restaurant.
