We found the hotel to be extremely welcoming and warm, just a delight and located in the heart of the city within walking distance to city street cars and quaint neighborhood restaurants. Little noisy in the mornings with the city activities of sirens, garbage trucks. Overall we would stay there again for the price. Parking was all valet and it does take a while to retrieve your car but you are told of that up front. Lobby is definitely very homey with large chairs of sofas and daily papers and current books and magazines . Felt like being in the older days without the hustle and bustle of todays life. The complimentary wine tasting was an added plus.

We had a wonderful time at the Carlton. The location is quiet but well placed to walk to various neighborhoods, and Barfly next door is awesome! We made friends with the staff and locals immediately, and felt everyone was super friendly. The rooms walls are very thin though. We were up late having a few drinks in the room and being pretty quiet, yet other guests complained.

I loved the style of this place. There were a couple of issues. The building is centrally heated, so the room seemed cold to us but they brought up a floor heater immediately. Thus, they were very responsive. And, in this day of flat screen TVs, they had a throw back to the '90s. The wine was very nice and it was great to see that it wasn't just some generic wine but, rather, those pouring the wine could talk about it, that it was local.

We loved the staff, the location and the view! Easy walk to the bus and cable car stops. Restaurants of all kinds close by and in all directions! The staff went out of their way to answer our questions and make sure we were comfortable at their hotel and in the city. Everynight at 5:30pm the hotel hosted a complimentary wine party. We met people from all over the world! An added bonus was that our room had a huge walk in closet that we used as a dressing room, perfect for privacy! We would definately stay here again!
