The Marriott New Orleans is located in the perfect place to enjoy both the French Quarter and access to transportation for other parts of the city. The lobby and bar are comfortable. The staff is exceptionally friendly and there is visible security at all times. The lobby and bar provide a very nice area to hang out and watch the games. Rooms are ordinary, but comfortable.

I've traveled a bit and know a great hotel when I see it. (N.B. I could care less about the luxury stuff. So your mileage may vary.) The location on the edge of the French Quarter in NOLA was perfect in terms of ability to access almost anything desirable in the city --- be it in the French Quarter, the business district, or the Garden district. The view from our corner room overlooking the Mississippi, French quarter, and northern NOLA was just awesome. The service was without fail excellent. Even down to the maid service, everyone working here seemed to genuinely appreciate our presence. (Or maybe it was just us, and they are discriminating.) The hotel restaurant (Five Fifty 5 or something like that) also has a really good menu. The service is OK --- Friendly but not professional. Overall very clean, too. Hard to go wrong with this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel last year and was treated so nice I decided to stay here again this year (8/13). The treatment I received this time was mediocre so I probably will not stay here again. I don't know which tower it is (when you walk in from Canal St. you would go to your left) that is where I stayed this last time and the view was not so good. Last time I stayed they offered to upgrade me at no charge to a room on the right side tower and I had a wonderful view of the Mississippi River. They recognized I was a silver member. This last time they didn't recognize me as a frequent Marriott member and treatment was lackluster. That was an eye opener for me! Parking both times was very expensive. It cost me a little under $190 to stay 4 days. Food is expensive but it is very good. They do not offer free wi-fi in the rooms but they do offer it in the lobby/lounge. Bathrooms are incredibly small, even in the upgraded room. The staff is pretty nice overall but you definitely get better treatment from the front desk if they know you are a Mariott frequent member!

We went for the Essence Festival & reserved 2 queen beds only to arrive to find all the rooms were gone!!! So we were given a jr suite with a king bed & she provided 2 roll away beds. The suite was BEAUTIFUL and the view was awesome!!
Great location, adjacent to French Quarter.12/07/2012
Hotel location is centrally located and allows you to dive right into the french quarter, yet is far enough so that you don't hear the noise at night.
