We (3 adults and a 6 year girl) found this to be an excellent location when we visited to watch the Boston Marathon. It was 1/2 block from the T and Boston Commons with swan boats. We were within walking or T range of everything we wanted to see. The hotel staff were very accomodating, putting us near another family member's room, letting use staff elevator when crowd came in after Marathon, and opening the door everytime we returned.

Grand old Boston hotel, great location right near the Public Garden, T stop couldn't be much closer and walking distance to Newberry St. and Beacon Hill. But, hotel needs serious updating. The swan doors make you feel as if you're in a Fred Astaire movie from the 30s. Room was a good size but the bathroom was ridiculously small and why is there a huge walk-in closet - we're not moving in. Beds were extremely comfortable and though bath was small shower had great water pressure. Overall, a great value b/c got a good deal, unbeatable location but, as said, hotel needs serious updates to this century.

Certainly the most impressive foyer of any hotel I've ever been in. It is pricey - but SO convenient to downtown. The room was small and there is no sound barrier between rooms - was treated one night to quite the passionate sound effects next door! I had my dog with me and the staff were most accomodating to make up the room while I took the dog walking. My only negative feeling is that when the rooms are this expensive, I resent getting dinged for all the add-ons. $46 per night for parking, $12.50 a day for internet (that's ridiculous in the day of free WIFI at even the cheap by the road motels) and an additional $50 for the dog.
