Stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton for a short weekend stay. The check in process was easy and went off without a hitch. The staff is very friendly. I made frequent visits to the concierge desk who were also extremely helpful. We already had our theater tickets, but they were able to print out our tickets to the MOMA at a discount. Others were ordering theater tickets so I assume they do it all. Our room was small, but was to be expected for NYC. The location was a short taxi ride to most area attractions and within walking distance to Madison Ave and some other great shops and restaurants. Cafe Metro next door was a great find. I would recommend this hotel to others and will consider staying here again. The only downfall was the breakfast was so expensive and free WiFi was only available in the lobby area.

Closet sized room, Internet cord that didn't reach the desk, low light levels, no refrigerator, and a musty dampness pumped out by the AC. Shoddy concierge that recommended a driver service that stood us up twice, paper peeling off walls, and a brown splatter running 12 inches down the wall that hadn't been cleaned before our arrival. Our first encounter with the front desk was clipped and condescending. Nauseating perfume smell pumping through the vents in the entire hotel. We are frequent travelers and not given to complain or unduly criticize. Is this the best the Hilton chain (read: family) can do?

We felt very safe here. The 4/5/6 subway stop was one block away! a 24 hr Duane Reade was on the block; a nice Cafe Metro was next door and open from 6am to midnight; we did not use the restaurant/grill but heard they were good. One bad thing: no coffee maker in the room! Otherwise, we'd stay there again(this was our second visit, actually!)

Great location. Poor check-in service, was given a key to a room already being used. Wasted a lot of time taking the elevator and walking up and down the corridors to reach each room assigned. Housekeeping would place tops over used glasses, some filled with liquid. Four out of our five day stay we had to wait an hour for our room to be cleaned by 4 p.m. each day. Paper was missing most mornings by door.
