Went to an event at the Verizon center, and the Hyatt was a great choice. Walking distance to the National Mall, even in 30° weather. Heated indoor pool for the kids. We would definitely stay there again!

Very nice lobby and atrium. Rooms kinda small and dated although they were under going a renovation while I stayed. Was not bothered by or even saw any of the renovation work. Use the automated checkin/checkout by swiping your credit card to avoid the long lines at the front desk. I did not like being told that there was no self parking when there is a self park lot at 1/3 the price that has an elevator that brings your right into the hotel lobby! Wasted over $50 on the valet parking just for them to drive my car around the corner. Do your self a favor and self park! Other thand that it was great.

I was shocked when I walked in. It was way, waaaay nicer than I would have thought for the price I paid. A 10-15 minute walk to all the monuments and Smithsonian museums. Did I mention they had an island with a piano on top in the lobby? All that was missing was a free breakfast. As far as I know, they didn't have one. The only problem was a big convention with about 1000 Kuwaiti college students on the night I stayed. Oh well, can't win them all, but the hotel was amazing.

Hotel lobby really is a beautiful as in the picture. Great deal for a location right in the heart of downtown and close by to restaurants and nightlife. Only thing is parking will cost you and so will wifi. But parking will cost you anywhere in downtown DC so, that's expected.

08/10/2012Just be a aware, the weekday rates are twice the price of the weekend rates. there is no free wifi and parking is $32 per day, with a $16 minimum.
