I cannot imagine how there could be a nicer and better located hotel in the DC area!! There is an entrance to Metro Center from inside the hotel - connecting you to ALL of the neighborhoods and attractions. This alone is worth the price of admission!!! Chinatown is two blocks away, the White House was about 6-8 blocks away as I recall...basically ALL DC area attractions are either within walking distance or accessible within walking distance of a subway stop - which you are at the center of the entire subway system! EXCELLENT breakfast buffet, not a budget meal but reasonably priced as compared to a restaurant menu order. I plan to stay nowhere else in DC - EVER! The morning I was checking out there were cleaning crews in the hallways of my floor vacuuming and cleaning the carpets. Who out there wonders if any hotels ever actually clean the carpets?! Grand Hyatt does. ;o) I requested a wake-up call the morning of my business meeting, the caller was a very friendly LIVE person who not only wished me a good morning and announced that she was my wake-up call, but also told me about the weather and wished me a wonderful day! The nicest wake-up call I have ever had. This same morning I walked outside to the valet and advised I needed a cab; he asked a question or two about where I was going and "voila" - less than a minute later a cab appeared! (he seemed to have something in the breast pocket of his shirt that he was tapping to call the cab - whatever it was it was fabulous!) One day we left the "privacy please" card in the door and came back to realize we did not get fresh towels. We were not going to call (it was our fault) but a pleasant surprise - someone from housekeeping called to see if everything was OK and if we needed anything!! I found a video concierge - very neat! If you're timid at all about using the services of the live concierge (like me!). Oh, and the lobby/atrium is beautifully decorated, open and airy, and just pleasant to be in. Two downsides - 1) Parking is very expensive (but in line with the going rate in the area) and very often full - but there is parking at Union Station - 3 Metro stops from the hotel. 2) Rooms with atrium view can be a little noisy, at least on the lower floors (we were on second floor). It was nothing that kept me up all night but was a little annoying and so worth mentioning. We had a VERY pleasant stay and commented between ourselves over and over how we just could not POSSIBLY be in a better location. Stay at the Grand Hyatt if you are looking to be near The Mall, near the White House, or generally in the "downtown DC" area you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Staff and room were very good. Staff always smiling,Housekeepers were the best. Charging 10.99 a day for internet is a bit much. You can go to a Motel 6 and get it free. Mini bar was overpriced. Will not stay at a Hyatt ever again because of they way they charge you for every little thing on top of high room rates.

The hotel was a great location to visit all the sites. Room service was fantastic on the night we had it. The room could have been cleaner (hair in the bathroom, dirty washcloths, etc). Starbucks in the lobby made up for any problems with the room!

I loved the Hotel. Besides it is being well located, it is beautifully furnitured. The service is amazing. People are friendly and treat you well. The room is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. It is close to the main attractions in the city, also close to sight seeing tours and good stores. I def reccomend this hotel!
