Front desk staff was good but had some unexplained charges on my credit card. Had to call back - they took care if it immediately. Was in room 334 no view to speak of but room was comfortable. Lot of old world charm - but no free Internet !! Very close to Farragut north metro. 2 blocks away from the Farragut West which takes you directly to the airport. Paul's patisserie just across which serves lovely croissants, macarons and coffee - unfortunately closes on Sunday !!

This hotel is a gem in DC- next to a metro, reasonable rates, and fabulous rooms, plus really nice, professional and courteous service. I was pleasantly surprised. So many of the hotels (even the nice ones) have been renovated and taken over and rehabbed... they've retained their popcorn ceilings, shabby fixures and small footprints. But not the Mayflower. The lobby is expansive and doesn't feel crowded, there is a mezzanine level for lounging complete with food and drink service, our two-room suite was nicer than most apts in DC... my only tiny critique is that the tub in our bathroom was small, considering it was a suite. But the bathroom was perfectly appointed otherwise, and everything was meticulously cleaned and kept up to date. Not even a hint of old molding here. The Farraugut North Metro is half a block from the main entrance of the hotel. Walk another block or two and you get to the Farraugut West Metro- which takes you to stops like the Smithsonian without transferring. CONVENIENT. And, if you prefer to drive, I recommend the full service lot behind the hotel- it's half the price of the valet parking the hotel offers. But my favorite part of my stay was the service. Most places see that you booked through a discount site, and they treat you a little shabby. Not here. The gentleman checking us in was so friendly, so accommodating, and very pleasant to deal with. We felt like we were his first and only priority. So overall- HIGH MARKS for the Mayflower. Or as I like to call it, my home away from home.

My husband and I stayed at the Mayflower with three small children ages 6, 4, and 1. My initial concern was that the hotel was going to be a little to stuffy for my children. However, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I requested and received a complimentary refrigerator for our room, umbrellas (it was raining one day), and sewing kits. The staff responded quickly to my requests, always followed up and was very helpful. Our room was very clean but the bathroom was pretty small. The hotel charged $45 a day for parking over night. Fortunately, we found overnight parking around the corner for $22. The two nights that we stayed in the hotel the water was not working (in the entire hotel) between the hours of 11 pm and 4 am. When my husband complained we received complimentary continental breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. The food was OK, however, I think it was really overpriced as the adult rate was $25 and the children’s rate was $12. There was an egg station, fresh fruit, cereal, home fries and pork sausage. I’m not against paying $25 for breakfast but I would expect more for that price. Again, the service was really good and we’d definitely stay again.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It was so beautiful, and clean, and the staff was so nice and helpful. The beds were so comfortable I wanted to take them home with me.
